I know that's not really the case, definatly with SM:TV. Most people I knew used to watch that, defiantly when Ant & Dec were presenting it, we used to talk about it at school the following Monday! Even our English teacher used to talka bout it with us, Anty & Decky was clearly everyone's favourite. Bear in mind we were 15/16 at the time! Heck, my sister (who was 32 at the time) cried when Ant & Dec left! Saturday morning Kids TV is defiantly not just for kids, it's when you're aiming it at kids, and just kids, when you get problems.

Saturday morning telly is not really meant to be for teenagers; normal teenagers are in bed

Well,I'd say Blaze would tell em where to stick it-ha-ha! Why would they want to go to all that effort again every week for yet another few years, and then have ITV forget how crap MOM was,and axe SM:tv again!! No,I don't think so.... Still,we can wish............

Personnally I'd like to see if MoM fails that ITV goes back to blaze and gets them to recommission SM:TV. I don't think Saturdays are ever going to be right again without it.

In the early days weren't SM:tv and CDUK made by "Ant and Dec Productions" or something similar, which implies Ant and Dec had a lot of power over the show.
No,its always been made by Blaze, although Ant and Dec alwqays had a big role in Execitive Production with Conor MCAnally. Ant and Dec Prouductions did exist, though

Another thing I noticed is that when they were talking about how Ant, Dec & Cat got together, Ant & Dec talked about them "giving Cat the job". Did Ant & Dec have more say in the executive/production side of the programme in the early days?

Having only just watched MoM on video, I'll admit it needs some serious attention but surely that's what these early shows are all about, finding what works and what doesn't and doing something about it!
Nobody likes change and I'd be the first to say that it was sad to see SMTV finish, however can I just cast everyone's mind back to the week after Ant and Dec left...people moaning about how it's rubbish now, saturday mornings will never be the same again, what are ITV playing at...etc!
Anyway here's what I thought of MoM;
Opening titles - fantastic, loved the retro look
Title Music - quite good and I agree with 'fanoftv' it's very difficult to get out of my head, I'm humming it at the damn moment!
Presenters - thought they looked good together and definitely had chemistry. They felt a bit stilted at times but it's a new show so I guess it's to be expected.
Audience - not sure if there was one, just seemed like ten 8 yr olds shoved in a corner. They need to be used a lot better to fill that studio.
Studio - really liked the set, very saturday mornings and clearly they had spent some money on it. Did feel very empty at times, I thought there'd be a lot more going on.
Games - not sure about that electrocution thing...don't believe they're getting hurt at all. The cake thing was funny but not sure if it can stand being on every week! Liked the spelling thing, mainly because the kid playing was taking it all really seriously, even though he was dressed as a bee!
Sketch - disappointed there wasn't any proper sketches involving guests and presenters, however I quite liked the German scientist bloke - a lot of comedy potential!
Finally, I always think dwarves are funny so having one as head of security was genius but not sure if the joke will sustain. Thought the twins on the phone were good, but do have the potential to get annoying! There also needs to be a lot more mayhem cause let's face it, the only mayhem on saturday mornings at the moment is on BBC1!!
Overall - not a bad effort but needs work...6/10

I don't beleive it's always been made by Blaze. It has always been made by Zenith though- and Zenith own Blaze, they might have owned Ant & Dec productions as well.......

They are defianatly the two things that need the most work. There needs to be a lot more audience members in the studio, and like SM:TV, they actually need to be part of the studio rather than shoved in a corner. They defiantly need something going off to fill that stuido, it's too big for it to be practically empty. They have the balconies- that seems to be the best place to have an audience.
And the characters, while they might be funny and entertaining at first, there's no way the foam-squirting agents, the twins on the phones or the carrier pigeon that they have to grab the mailsack off will stay this way for more than a few weeks, with all the tweaks I predict that these things will be the first to go, though I think that the dwarf security guard & the german scientist do have more potential in them and will probabally stay on.

Originally the production company was titles 'Ant & Dec Productions'. I have the endcaps at the ends of editions of sm:tv/cd:uk. Then for a brief period they changed so that the production company was the parent company 'Zenith media'. Following this short period blaze productions (a zenith media company) was set up and that became the production company for sm:tv & cd:uk.
And yes James, Ant & Dec productions was also a zenith media company.

I agree with what you say Brand X. I won't quote your whole posting as along with my ramblings it'll be too much.
I'm glad someone else likes the titles. I think the animations and graphics are super and a nice change to the SM:tv Live titles, although they would have easily fitted in with SM:tv with a re mix if the theme tune.
I quite like the music now. I've been singing it since saturday and I'm sure that I keep adding my own words in! It wasn't what I expected but is very addictive, nearly as much as Chris Moyles song last week!
The presenters do make a good mix, are all good and have good chemistry together. But perhaps it would be better if they were allowed to do more, have more freedom. So they would be able to talk about whatever they wanted, and go wherever they wanted in the studio. So if they spotted a crew/audience member playing up they can wander around the set with cameras following them.
They definately need more audience, more than the 20 there. They could do with getting the mad screaming kids from classes and putting them all together. I like the idea of them being on the balconey, though would they obstruct the doors?
They could do with using them for games and things.
The ideal basis for a show like this would be 'Mad for it'. For anyone that saw it, the set was made up of stages around the edge with an audience filling the middle of these. As it was only half an hour long, the presenters (mike mcclean and yolanda (series 1)/ dannielle nicholls (series 2) ) had to go straight from item to item. The items were short but sweat, usually involving the audience in games or competitions. They had a gunge tank for all of the loosers from the show's games to go into to be gunged at the end, and a pie man who basically just pounced on random people and pied them.
It was a great show, and because it was so quick, was so mad. If only they could achieve this of the Ministry of Mayhem.

There's no doubt the show needs a lot more mayhem in it, as long as it doesn't become Da Bungalow with budget!
I have to say that MoM has plenty of potential, we'll just have to wait and see if they make the most of it or whether it falls at the first hurdle like so many shows before it!
