What I want to know is does The Cheeky Girls have a contract with TOTP Saturday as every time I watch bits of that show it seems they are either on or Fearne gives them a mention.
The last few shows of SMTV had Mariah Carey, Paul McCartney in the studio. I can only base this on the BBC offerings but over the course of the 1990s, the standard of guests have severly dropped. Is it the fault of the show or the guests being too greedy for money?
Well if Motormouth came from Maidstone back in the TVS days then they managed to get Right Said Fred on their show! Pure quality there... I'm too sexy for this forum...
With Dick and Dom having a no celeb rule making that impossible but hey, cheaper to produce! It will be interest to see what route Mayhem takes when it launches.
Well if the first show guests, S Club 8 are going to be in. SM:tv didn't have guests as such when it first started. They used to grab guests from cd:uk to give away quick prizes. And SM:tv went downhill in terms of guests when Ant, Dec & Cat had all gone. They maintained it for a bit with cat there, but then they all disapeared.
They used to get most of the big pop stars that were going to appear on cd:uk, but when cd:uk started to pre record most of their performances with only a few cheap pop bands on the live show, this tradition went.
Problem with all the celebrities on these types of show is that they're only there for one of two reasons: to plug something (usually a single) or just to remind everybody that they're not dead and then plug something (usually a single).
In other words S Club 8 are not there because they want to be at the forefront of a new show that's aimed at or just below their own age range and may be as good or even better than SM:TV. They're probably only there to promote this and probably this as well.

If celebs/bands want the exposure, they're usually more than happy to go where they can get it...

Even if it is Maidstone
It's going to be a problem now for both shows. As SM:tv and cd:uk used to share bands, even if they were pop bands, each show are going to have to work harder to get more people.
I think perhaps moving cd:uk to a 5pm ish saturday evening slot would bring new viewers, get them a better chart, closer to the official chart, get a better calibre of guests live in the studio, a chance to move back towards the chart, and put itself forward as a proper music chart show.
I think they should try and mix the current theme with the original, so that they include the 'count down uk' in there also, many people don't remember that this is what it stands for.
Guests travelled to Glasgow every Saturday between April - September last to appear on The Saturday Show/TOTP Saturday and all the music groups, performers, actors & celebs who would appear on the London shows all made the journey to Scotland. MOM guests have a much shorter journey to make. Even though the studio isn't in the heart of London that doesn't mean the "big names" won't travel.
Ministry of Mayhem you heard the name here first - Nov 27th 2003.
What is going on about that CiTV website? It has no new Profile about the new presenter, And that Watch It page has been like that before the new look too.
Well closer to the date, stil no proper promotion for Ministry of Mayhem. Will they do a live link up from CiTV to the studio as they used to with SM:tv Live?
Andy's on his own again today. Perhaps they aren't going to have another presenter with him.
Today's ident before him was good, based on a comic book, but it still lacked the tune. Even though they can't get the same people that did the old music, it surely isn't that hard to make some variations themselves. Couldn't they do it on computers? All they need are the 4 notes.
The animation ident wasn't bad inbetween the two trailers before beat the cyborgs, it reminds me of the 1998/99 Half Toon Week ident. And it featured a new version of music.
I still can't get into 'Beat the Cyborgs'. I don't understand it, it would be better if it were the children taking aprt in the games. I don't understand why they pick a cyborg and tell them what to do. It's a bit like human pokemon with less people/things to choose from
A seem to be replying to myself a lot lately, but hey. A new Ministry of Mayhem promo after todays CiTV, featuring the places being struck mixed (with SM:tv telly effects) with shots of Michael, Holly, Stephen and a cartoon of a boy and an egyptian mummy, it ended with the cartoon robot again. I presume this is part of the titles. I'm wondering if the places being hit are part of them aswell.
Andy said more information about the ministry of mayhem will be given tomorrow afternoon.
