It seems that ITV really are doing a 'softly softly' launch for the Ministry of Mayhem. There were no trailers for it this morning at all, even though it starts this time next week!

I understand that they don't want to over-hype it, setting it up for a fall but surely it's important to let us viewers no what the hell it's going to look like/be like?

Maybe I'm just being impatient but next week cannot come too quickly for me..c'mon...7 days to go!! Very Happy

CiTV was better when it was in two parts Telly Tots and then CiTV.

I think that waas a good idea as it meant that CiTV could aim at an older audience (13+) whilst still having something for younger viewers.

In my opinion the lineup for weekdays should be as follows:
3:20 (or whenever it starts) - 3:40pm Programmes for younger viewers
3:40 - 4:00pm Cartoon / Animation (eg Flinstones)
4:00 - 5:00pm Programmes aimed at 13+ viewers

Obviously timings would vary, but one thing I really hate is adverts that appear in the middle of programmes. They never used to appear and waste programme time (even if they are a nice revenue earner).

I thought it might have launched today being CITV's birthday...

Why would that make a difference?
I wouldn't have minded seeing a 21st CiTV birthday bash, like last years. That was great instead of Titan AE.

Trailers will most probably launch this week. They can't do it with no promotion, though the BBC always promotes there's for about three weeks before.
It's nothing like when mashed did a live link to ant & dec walking up to the studio back in the summer of 1998.

cd:uk was interesting today, having another look back at last year. Perhaps something is going to change at cd:uk, and they are leaving it until next week to fall inline with the start of the ministry of mayhem.

Hopefully we will have Stephen, Michael & Holly in the studio at some point this week, if not all some or one of them, or maybe a live link up. I hope they don't show us the actual set, or use music on trailers, it always spoils it for me. Though it does make me excited that i have seen the little bit. Like when The Saturday Show had a promo in the middle of the last Live & Kicking that began with the end of the Saturday Show titles, and a bit of the music.

I'm not sure that I would call CBBC's a strong line up. Take a look at this weeks schedule here. The majority of this is imports. Though they are imports that have done well for CBBC in the past.

Don't think very much of that lineup at all. Can only see five (maybe more) homegrown programs on it. Blue Peter, Newsround, Grange Hill, Chucklevision and Tracy Beaker. Seems to be an over-reliance on Arthur.

Now that CBBC have the channel they can test audiences of new shows on there, and bring the popular ones to CBBC One & Two. CiTV would really benefit from having a simple service like this on itv2.

But they've got the budget to be able to launch a digital channel. The media guardian article you quoted puts CiTV's budget at £36m. When Nigel Pickard was at CBBC, the budget then was £105m. We've already said about the problems the CiTV/ITV Kids channel could have when filling up its schedules though.

It's not only about the programming though is it. The reason I watched CiTV, is because I liked Michael & Leah, especially together. The presentation was good, the old ways of communication were good. But there must be something about the quality of home grown CiTV programmes that I really love.

If only they had the money for more. I hope that when the merger is complete and more funds become available, that CiTV argue for more. They need it. Just think how strong it could be if they had strong home grown programmes.

This is it, lack of funds. Its properly cheaper to go and buy That's so Raven from whoever distributes it than call Foundation up for another series of Fingertips.

Perhaps what they could try is producing a series of pilot episodes of programmes that air on the telly say in the first week of january. They ask for viewers response. If they are positive, and all at CiTV agree, give the green light for a series to be commissioned for september/january. That way they wouldn't be wasting money on programmes that are rubbish, and would encourage viewer communication creating an interaction in the programme.

Too much effort me thinks but a nice idea though.

And as for new presenters. We won't have to wait that long to see now! It will be interesting if they can carry on the fun attitude, and make it seem like live tv, ablibing, just talking general to each other, and to see if they have the same chemistry. That is to say if there are two of them, could be one, could be more!

I presume Swag's there full stop now he's got his own long banner on citv.co.uk. I don't think he has the appeal of Otis the Aardvark though, which was always my favourite.

I think That's So Raven might of cost CiTV quite a bit of money. It was put straight into SMTV Live and it seemed that CiTV thought it was the next Sabrina.

If you take into account the fact that CITV has less than a quarter of the output time that CBBC ONE/CBBC/CBEEBIES has, then it has more money per hour of programming than CBBC. It's just the way they choose to spend it that is the problem! I wonder how many millions Janie Grace threw away on Boobah? Mad

Janie Grace had nothing to do with Boohbah. It's a GMTV production, well Ragdoll for GMTV. CiTV will have paid GMTV to get the rights to show them, or something to do with the CiTV/GMTV Kids link.
