I must say, the SMTV 1999 version is by far the best. They should never have changed it. The following version just sounded awful and it was so obvious that they just faded a new version in over the old version. I quite like the 2001-B version though, with the stabs at 12 seconds in.

Yes the 1999 version will always go down in history as the SM:TV theme, people will forget the others. Its interesting how they managed to come up with these good themes to match the original visuals. The original one didn't even have the alarm clock buzzing, in fact it doesn't match the visuals in anyway and looks like it was added on afterwards. Was '1998 B' in fact the original version behind the scenes but wasn't used until show 4?

The first version of Xmas was the better one as well. They should have used that this year.

The music used in and out of the ads were good as well, with a different version used each side of the ads

The original one, I'm sure had all of the sound effects, clock, boing's and dog bark on it, along with the 'Wake Up, Saturday' lyrics. On show 3 they took away all of this leaving just the music along with the titles, though the music still fits in with the ep.3 titles and the music changes when each part of the titles starts. I think the idea was to use the two versions of the one tune to create the link between the two.

I think I am the only person who quite liked the format and liveliness and freeness on air of the first few shows. True, i don't think it was right for saturday morning, but the set, titles, music (original, cd:uk type), and the way that the show was loosly based on the script would be great for an afternoon.

I for one preffered the first set to the second.

Maybe CiTV buying Teen Angel is a bit of a clue to the fact that Disney and CiTV are joining up?

I'm really not impressed with that schedule. The programmes that I know (and I know a lot of them as they are imports or repeats) aren't that thrilling. Where's all of the new programming, where's the sort of schedule we had back in september?

Why do you think we won't see presenters back? They have paid out a lot of money for the new set, that's only been used for a few months. They were getting back on their feet creating more time, more links, little features such as bag the swag.
.

I really don't think that the new set would have cost a lot of money. Compared to the old set its small, and looked very much like an interim measure to me perhaps because they wanted to use the studio space for something else. Basically its a very bare white canvas, with a small raised stage, and a couple of plasma screens thrown in, not a huge amount of expense, and easily disposible I'd have thought.

Looks to me as if the intention was to get by for a few months, knowing that the presenters are leaving, and by my reckoning moving to out of vision continuity in the New Year.

Surely if presenters were staying, they would have been introduced, prior to the departure of Leah & Michael ?

Well if they don't get any new ones they are stupid. Anyway i think its about time another region had a ago at doing ti like Granada or something, However that is less likly now it is ITV PLC.

Well Channel TV should take over CITV, and in fact this week what with no CITV they are doing their own in-vision continuity between 2.30pm and 5.30pm instead with Puffin's Pla(i)ce being extended. It'd be interesting to see whether today's kids would like 'broomcupboard' style presentation like the old days.

Anyway, I read on the CITV pinboards that there's new presenters in the new year. How that will work with them not being introduced, I don't know "Hi I'm suchandsuch welcome to Monday on CITV now here's What about Mimi?".

Also was the CITV edition of Jungle Run ever shown, and now with Leah leaving, will it ever be shown

There is only that one part which is solely white canvas. They have the CiTV stage with the logo, board bit, and a funny thing on top of it, that makes it seem like they could stand on top of it, though it does seem by the changes in that bit from the CiTV logo to the art attack bit with the desk that there are two sides to it. Then they have the safe bit where SWAG is to the right.

The studio is shared by Central News at Six. It has been for a few years now. All other news bulletins (bar Newsweek on a sunday) use a CSO set, that is based in CiTV's pre 2000 studio.

They haven't had a proper CiTV section since boxing day. They've had a pre recorded SM:tv which was just played out by itv, and the early morning tots programmes but nothing for presenters to do, which is most likely why Michael & Leah left on Christmas Eve. Where as other years they have been on the air every single morning until the end of new years week.

I think I would have prefered them to modify the set back to its roots of 2000 where it was bright colourful, spacey, and CiTV like. I wonder why they did change the shell of the studio, It has made it look a lot smaller, especially as they haven't had many, if any long shots used.

Just been looking at the CITV pinboards and the moderator has told one of the users that there will be new presenters in the new year!!

Here's what was written;

CiTV 2004

There's bound to be new shows but of course they'll also be new series of old shows. What do you think/want to be on?

I want some good new dramas/comedys, as we've already seen the new MPAA series!!

How 2's coming back!!!!!!! (How can Fred still be presenting?) How 2 is the best "factual" programme.

P.S Mod do you know what will be on in 2004.

P.P.S Who will be presenting with Michael? He can't present by himself. And what if he's ill!!!! Maybe Swag will present (oh no!) They should get Stephan (the best presenter ever!) back!

They ought to get Tommy Boyd back on, I used to enjoy his stint on CITV, he was different because he wasn't in the typical 18-25 year old age group of presenters they seem to have on kids shows these days.

Hmm. I wonder who they could be!?

I hope Leah goes on to do at least something else. At the moment, there's only Stephen & Michael that are presenting and have done CiTV links since 1998. And that's mainly because they presented shows before they left CiTV, so they could progress.

Let's see.
Stephen Mulhern (1998-2002) Presented many shows whilst at CiTV including the Quick Trick Show, Brilliant Creatures, and Fingertips. Since leaving, he's also done Globoloco, You can do Magic, has had a short presenting spot alongside Des on SM:tv/SM:tv Gold, and is about to present it's replacement, along with...

Michael Underwood (2002-2003) After leaving CBBC at the start of 2002, Michael presented the CiTV White Knuckle Tour along with Stephen Mulhern. He then got a spot hosting links on CiTV after he presented the Big Bang alongside Kate McIntyre. When at CiTV, he did the second series of The Big Bang, the new series of Jungle Run, and space based show Starfinder. And will be hosting the new saturday morning show MINISTRY OF MAYHEM from January 10th.

As for the others...

Dannielle Nicholls (1998-2001) Her career looked good. After years alongside Mr Mulhern, she branched out and presented Channel 5's Night Fever. Though when she had left CiTV behind her, Night Fever was axed by five. And no one has seen her since. She mysterious disapeared from CiTV continuity late in 2001, alongwith...

Tom Darville (Boxing Day 1999 - 2001) The only way viewers knew that they had properly left was when the Christmas Titles were made, and they were no where in site. After leaving CiTV, Tom hasn't been seen doing anything, and reappeared to tv screens at the CiTV 20th Birthday bash, alongwith...

Andrea Greene (Boxing Day 1999 - late 2000) She began alongside Darville, Mulhern and Nicholls as CiTV ventured into their new studio in January 2000 (though she couldn't join the other three as planned, due to chicken pox). She presented until late 2000, could have been early 2001 (though I remember that she wasn't around at Christmas), and she did have a farewell piece played and said goodbye!
Since leaving she has been seen in a Television advert, in Eastenders and back in the studio for the 20th anniversery bash.

Leigh & David (2001-2002) They won the presenter competition and were voted to present on CiTV alongwith Leah Charles. Leigh & Leah won the vote, but because David was a close 3rd, they gave him the job too. But there were only 4 up for the public to vote for, think how the other guy must have felt!
When they joined, they created the biggest team of CiTV presenters with Stephen, Dannielle, Tom, David, Leigh & Leah. With 6 of them all presenting, it's no doubt that Dannielle & Tom wanted to leave, they wouldn't get that much to do!. They continued to present along side Stephen & Leah, then Michael & Leah until they left on friday 20th december 2002. With clips of them and their goobyes, with Leigh's immortal line "This Is Not The End!".
Since this, Leigh has presented a show called 'The Agents' on the CBBC Channel. David hasn't been seen doing anything.

Leah Charles (2001 - 2003) Leah was voted in along with Leigh & David in 2001 to present along side Stephen, Tom & Dannielle.
She has made a great solo presenter, and especially great with Michael Underwood, if she moves on to something else (lets hope!), I hope she can get on with any fellow presenters there too. When Leigh & David left at the end of 2002, Leah was left to steer CiTV through 2003 with the help of Michael Underwood, and...

Tim Dixon (January - June 2003) Tim Dixon was introduced to partner Leah & Michael in 2003, as both Leah & Michael had other presenting responsibilities, so he was there to sit alongside either one that was left. He lasted his original 6 month contract, and it wasn't renewed.
Instead CiTV opted for using Michael & Leah, and when Michael had presenting commitments for other CiTV shows during the summer, they introduced guest presenters Kate & Ana.

I'd like to see H from Steps presenting CiTV. He makes a really good children's presenter as we saw on SM:tv and he hasn't got a job at the moment...

Interesting choice. I think H would be good at it, aslong as its not with Claire. I wouldn't mind seeing how H & Des would have presented together. It's a shame they never could've really.
