What a disappointment!

I have avidly watched SM:TV Live for many years and I suppose tv execs should never resurretion things that have already gone past their sell-by date! Just look at Only Fools and Horses and Crossroads!

I didnt look that 'recorded' to me but once reading the posts on here it was blatantly obvious that it was recorded! Just what did happen to 'the cast of Coronation Street', Brian Conley, Blazin Squad, etc etc.

All these guests were billed as appearing but none of them actually appeared in any of it!

One of the worst SM:TV Lives I have seen and it has now spoilt the very fond memories I have of the last official episodes with Ant and Dec, Cat and also Brian and Tess all leaving.

Here's my pictoral tribue to SM:tv. I know it should go in mocks or something, but i thoughtit was more apt here. Its only been done in paint btw

Sorry about the poor quality - the better one can be seen here.

Haven't seen the show yet - although i have taped it. Glad Eminemerdale was cut out. Perhaps the producers saw sense!

Interesting last ever SM:tv. I think out of the whole lot, Des was best at doing the links today, mainly because his three companions all deserted him, and then just rushed back for the last one.

It was all in the writing, and the writers today weren't great and there were only two. I thought it was a bit of a shame how they had to rely on old chums footage for the last episode, it's a shame they couldn't have got Dean Wilkinson back just to write at least one of the sketches.

Obviously the show would have been better live, perhaps with all 7 of them together, but that's the problem with things. The cleaner at the end was, I believe Mr Connor Mcannally, who has been there since day one for the whole 5 yrs, 4 mths. It may have worked having james there as the sweeper.

Or what may have been better would have been to have Stephen there, perhaps moaning about how he filled in for weeks and didn't appear on the last show, and then either say that he's off to the ministry, or have Holly & Michael grab and take him to the ministry. Though you can understand how blaze wouldn't have done that.

I'm surprised that they didn't have any promotion for the ministry either during or after today's SM:tv, the Saturday Show got a promo during the last Live & Kicking.

It hasn't really hit me that there is no more SM:tv, most probably like the Big Breakfast did, I will miss it when it isn't on next saturday morning, but then i will get excited over the ministry coming, even if it does turn out to be pants, though at the moment CiTV can't afford it.

There is never a date, but I believe the Saturday Show is returning in April, it's usually the last weekend, though it could be at any time. It is definately April (unless they put it back!)

yeah, imo chums was the biggest dissapointment of all, they've been promoting it heavily over the past few weeks, and all we got was a montage of clips all of which we've already seen over the past few months beacuse it was supposed to build up to this "last ever episode" Shocked Rolling Eyes

i was expecting to find out what had happened to them over the last 2 years, how did they get back together? why were they coming back to a deserted flat? where had they been?

It was upsetting, I however enjoyed it. This year has defintley not been the year for SMTV, it's been very empty. I think we'll see the Ministry of Mayhem advertised next Saturday.

I still hate the name "Ministry of Mayhem", I would rather want it to be "That Saturday Feeling" or something.

Not quite so sure about 'That Saturday Feeling'. Confused I know what you mean about MoM but it did grow on me after a while.

Also, 'Mayhem at the Ministry' is a chapter title in one of the Harry Potter books! (not entirely sure why I mentioned that but thought it might be of interest Embarassed )

This is what it says on the SM:TV Live website about today's show. Notice all those mentions of Eminemmerdale!

Ant, Dec, and Cat are back for the last ever SM:tv this Saturday from 9.25am on ITV1. It’s going to be the party of the year as we bring you brand-spanking new versions of your SM:tv favourites. There’ll be a last ever “Challenge Ant” with Ant going head-to-head with one lucky kid for the last time! Downright Dirty Donnelly and Cat The Dog are reunited for one last adventure in “The Secret Of My Success” – this special episode has a ‘Pop Idol’ feel, so make sure you don’t miss it! Plus there’ll be one last ever episode of Chums. Ant, Dec and Cat return to the flat after 2 years. Will the Chums live happily ever after? Find out this Saturday. We’re also welcoming back Tess, Brian, Des and Shavaughn who’ll be your hosts all morning and they’ll be taking us on a whirlwind adventure in a Christmas special “Eminemmerdale”. The last ever SM:tv is going to be a fun-packed 2 hours!

GARETH GATES will be here as you’ve never seen him before in the last ever episode of “Chums”. Gareth will also be performing his big 2003 hit “Sunshine” for us too. There’ll be a very special medley of hits from GIRLS ALOUD, who’ve had a string of massive songs in 2003. S CLUB 8 are with us all morning. Look out for them all dressed up in our festive “Eminemmerdale” special and also watch out for LIBERTY X. They’re involved in an explosive last ever episode of Chums!

BLAZIN’ SQUAD are with us for the last ever SM:tv. See if you can spot which one of the squaddies is having a spot of trouble with a toilet seat! We’ve got stars from POP IDOL joining us for one of our brand new last-ever sketches and TV funnyman BRIAN CONLEY, “Countdown’s” Richard Whitely and Fern and Phil from ITV1’s “This Morning” will also be joining in the party as we wave goodbye to SM:tv after more than 5 and a half years! Keep an eye out for all those celebrities that can’t remember how to do the SM:tv postbag dance as we delve in to those famous sacks for the last time ever – there’s bound to be a few surprises!

COROANATION STREET hearthrobs Nikki Sanderson (CANDICE) and Ryan Thomas (JASON GRIMSHAW) have made sure they’re in studio for the last ever SM:tv Live too! Look out for the Coronation Street stars in our very festive special episode of “Eminemmerdale”. As well as joining in our last ever Postbag, Nikki and Ryan will be helping Tess, Brian, Des and Shavaughn get the last ever show off to an all-singing all-dancing start! And keep an eye out for old SM:tv friends LOUISE REDKNAPP and DANE BOWERS in the last ever episode of Chums!

EASTENDERS hearthrob James Alexandrou (MARTIN FOWLER) is joining in the party with Ant, Dec and Cat too. Keep an eye out for James in the last ever episode of Chums – and having a good old sing at the end of the show! And if you’re a big fan of SM:tv, you’ll be pleased to know that Ant, Dec, Cat, Tess, Brian, Des, Shavaughn and Stephen have all signed loads of exclusive SM:tv goodies, including 3 limited edition photo friezes. You’ll have the chance to own a piece of SM:tv history in not 1 but 3 very special Ring To Wins as part of the last ever SM:tv – this Saturday at 9.25am only on ITV1….You know where it’s at!

Never thought Eminemmerdale, which was hardly the most popular SMTV sketch ever, could cause so much fuss!

I saw it and the whole thing just seemed to fail to flow properly. It looked just like they had chopped various bits and mashed them together - ok that is exactly what they had done but you would have thought they would have made it seem like things were linked together a bit better.

Were they originally going to be on air for a bit longer or something? or was it that they didn't time the recordings so they fitted together properly. Confused It wasn't really the best SM:TV but then if it was I guess it would overshaddow the Ministry a bit, but still they could have done better IMO.

Has anyone noticed that the Ministry of Mayhem does not start next Saturday? On the Sky EPG, they seem to have something called 'Titan AE' on instead.

Another thing I noticed is that they said "Ant, Dec and Cat will be back for one last time" and I was expecting one of the presenters to welcome them on to the show, but instead Ant and Dec just appeared for Challenge Ant.

Obviously the production team deserve a holiday, but as Ministry of Mayhem isn't on next week, I think they should have put the last SM:tv on then instead and done it live - Ant and Dec aren't doing Pop Idol anymore and they could probably get hold of everyone else. If it had been live, it'd have been more sincere. Ant, Dec, Cat, Tess, Brian, Des, Shavaugn, H and Claire all sat in the studio saying their goodbyes lives, whereas when it's prerecorded there wouldn't be any crying because it wouldn't feel like their last show.

Looking back on it, it really was quite rubbish. Eminemmerdale was always rubbish and unfunny anyway - their running joke was Brian saying "I really like pigs..." which is actually extremely un-funny.

All of the guests promised were on it, but only briefly - the website says that the Corrie/Eastenders people SClub8 and Brian Connely would all be in Eminemmerdale, which was cut and replaced by spongebob. I'd rather have seen Eminemmerdale.

Well yes, Firstly it was funny that they decided to include that sketch in the first place, but I suppose they needed a sketch to involve Tess, Brian, Des and Shivaughn. And now they decided not to show it anyway!

I think a lot of people are being a bit hard on them really. Remember they didn't have to do it. Ant and Dec didn't have to return. They could have just ended with an edition of SM:TV Gold as normal. I think there were lots of funny lines and was the best they could do without overshadowing shows when each of the presenters left originally. And at least there wasn't any Eat My Goal
