Thought the show was awful. It feels like this show should have been on before MOM , MOM was so much better. The games were dreadful, guess what is in the cupboard, guess what was in the tin, guess what Ray took off the shelf, guess whether Rays wig would be sucked up or blown down onto him, guess what the missing word is... and Supermarket Sneak, the only decent game on it. No Doc, No Mr Lee, no audience, just a quiet studio.
Did anyone else get confused on the 'WTW' game- whats the word? The answer was dog, which all the callers thought, until they realised they had moved onto another sentence. It was funny but the rest was awful. What was the point in the boys and girls teams? All they did was say which object Ray took off a shelf- and that was it, they weren't on again! Dreadful dreadful show, bring back MOM
After watching some of the other half, the programme should be renamed "Ministry of wheres the Mayhem got to!" The word Showdown in the programme title makes it sound like an event but as the previous post describes, it ends up a quiet mess. Ultimately its the first time I watched Dick N Dom in ages.
Its missing a studio audience, todays show felt empty without one. Also at the beginning where Stephen was looking at the glass fish tank someonewith big blond hair and wearing large pink glasses poked his head round the round behind the wall in the kitchen and the hair was dressed up like how the doctor would normally have it.
As first shows go, it wasn't that bad, the only problem is that it's sort of done away with the past two years that MoM built up.
Some of the new features are good, and would have fitted into MoM, but I suppose it is only the first week and things will be changed, look at the first MoM, the first SM:tv, the first, well most shows.
Part of me is starting to believe that earlier post about the show, and MoM could return. There have obviously been budget cuts, look at the set, there's not much too it, whether this is through choice, or they've got another part of the set to reveal, we don't know yet.
I would be surprised if it doesn't start to re become MoM, in terms of getting bands on, even an audience, somewhere.
The set reminds me of a cross between the old Fully Booked (when it was a hotel set), a bit Dick & Dom, but a lot of old style MoM.
I will give it time. At least they've got Holly & Stephen still. Not so keen on Wallace, and it's a shame that Peter's not involved anymore.
As first shows go, it was ok, I will keep watching, many tweaks that could be, and most probably will be made.
I know its only the first week but any chance that Saturday Showdown will get a re-launch in July?. Look at ToonAttik and MOM they got re-launches with in their first year on air.
I liked the show through out. Snowy has got big since he was introduced back in september!.
I notice Holly is Philip Schofields co-presenter on 'Dancing on Ice' starting next Saturday on ITV1.
Stephen is also involved, presenting the ITV2 show, 'Dancing on Ice : Defrosted'
Looks like a new trend is emerging, daytime TV presenters being matched with much younger presenters in prime-time.
I think a lot of this has stemmed from Strictly Come Dancing - not to mention the format!! Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly was probably one of the first of such pairings.
Loved the CBBC2 link into Dick and Dom - both stuck their thumbs up as they introduced it and said "thumb's the word"! Then one of them said "that'd make a great catchphrase" and the other said "it'd never last"

They are too smug lately. Just wait until da Bungalow ends and they can't get any more work.
Talking about the set. Son of Dork are on next week. I can't see them going on and not performing their new single so where will they do it, in the middle of the 'kitchen' floor?
Remember the first Ministry of Mayhem when half the features had been dropped by episode 2, I bet this will happen with Saturday Showdown as well
you should check your facts andrew. it was the cbbc presenters who said thumbs the word, not dick and dom.
either way, saturday showdown was one of the worst tv show debuts i've ever seen. nothing was interesting, holly and steven looked bored, and the plundering of ideas from dick and dom was nothing less than shamefaced, i think holly and steven actually looked embarrassed at what was happening. i know it was only the first show but how it can improve much more is a mystery. foundation and itv should be ashamed of themselves/.
