And he was right. There was no need to do that, the cookery shows are more suited to BBC1's weekday output.

I haven't seen a cat either on the show.
Does anyone know if there are any downloads for the Saturday Showdown background music?
I hope Play your farts right is back this week with Egor!

So Saturday morning Citv is in real trouble. I know why don't they bring back either a version of TISWAS or Gimme 5 and then on Sunday's have the return of The Disney Club or Ghost Train.
Put decent animations on such as new Transformers or other harder cartoons than the rubbish they have now - or even repeat the old "He-Man" and "Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters" or even "Thundercats"
Decent on-screen competitions and mst of all - an audience and real bands playing within the studio/set.
Then on the Saturday show, between 1130 and 1230 make it more of a music show with a chart rundown near the end and play out with the Number 1 record/cd video

The question here is, how many of us actually grew up with either CiTV/Watch It or CBBC during the 1980's and 1990's? This is the period when the 2 main networks actually cared about children's television, they were educational, fun, entertaining, comedic and dramatic. With this mixture the viewing figures were quite decent, considering the time of day!, and both children and adluts used to watch the programmes.
Nowadays, especially ITV, the networks just don't seem too bothered. They think that childrens bloc is aimed between pre-school and 11 years then after that the children are either on the playstations or out playing football or whatever, or that they are watching the programmes on the children's channels on satellite/cable. Do they not realise that they are actually pushing children to do that. It is not the children just wandering off not being bothered about the progrmmes it is actually the programmes that are pushing the children away.
Today's programmes are farr to infantile, no intelligence, no drama, too comedic and very little in the way of education. This does not only apply to ITV and BBC but also applies to most of the other children's channels on satellite/cable. - the main exceptions being Toonami, Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Trouble but unfortunately they rely too heavily of US imports.
If ITV/BBC want decent viewing figures, again, to bolster their viewership and to create a home where people can grow up watching their channels then they have to look at the past to see how successful the 2 channels were. Could you image Count Duckula or Dangermouse, or even Wind In The Willows (all Cosgrove Hall) being made today if they hadn't have been made during the 1980's. Could you image Press Gang, Children's Ward/The Ward being made today, or even Rentaghost (I know that is primarily a 70's show!!)?????
Sure investment is well and truly needed for these programmes but they can recoup the investment through advertising, sub liscenicing programmes to the satellite/cable stations and through international sales. Something that isn't being done today - who really wants rubbish programmes for their nation of children to grow up with - as that is what we have today - cheap, nasty, and very very off-putting.
How has British children's programming got this bad?
Sorry, thats my rant over and done with - mainly due to the fact I haven't seen Children's programmes in a few years and actually caught some of it (i.e. the whole of CITV) yesterday and the thoughts above are actually my own true and proper thoughts.

They can't have a real cat in the studio because of Snowy. I'm sure Michelle from Liberty X was holding some kind of teddy bear in the Window Cleaning game - maybe it was a cat and that is what they were talking about. Has anyone got any screen grabs from Window Cleaning? I'll keep a look out for it this weekend.
