To be pedantic it actually week 26.
It is possible that they are taking a break for the summer. I'd be slightly suprised if it was being axed completely (particulary if no Childrens' programme was replacing it), as I'd have thought MediaGuardian might have picked up on it whilst writing the article.
No idea if there will be a new Children's programme replacing it, but Saturday Showdown / MOM is over for good.

On the ITV Sales page for July it says Saturday Showdown W/E week 28 .
I wonder which Quiz Channel Holly and Stephen will end up on afterwards then?

What gold?!
Seriously though, I doubt a whole 'Gold' series will be made out of this - don't forget, SMTV was ITV's most successful Saturday morning show since Tiswas, if not ever.

Not suprised really. The format was killed with the run down, budget cut Saturday Showdown slot. I did real Scratch & Sniff are to get their own show next year though. Sadly, it's a gameshow format rather than something like Wolf It, which I think would have been better. The characters were totally underused on the show.

Well knowing how they liked to steal ideas from Dick & Dom prehaps (highly watered down) gunge will be dripping through parts of the set, leading up to an explosion of gunge, or knowing ITV just a bucket of water being thrown.

I'd say it would be Saturday Showdown Gold but including things from MoM.

Isn't it supposed to MOM under a different name? so wouldn't it be MOM gold?

So if ITV are looking for a cheap Saturday Morning children's programme where the producers have to find their own budget, plus it would have to be a success then why not make an updated version of TISWAS.
Plus side
4 young presenters (preferably unknown to begin with!)
3 cheap and tacky US imported cartoons (i.e. ilk of Sport Billy, Tarzan - Lord Of The Jungle, etc...)
Loads of water, baked beans and custard (BBC), custard pies, etc..
Numerous hooded phantom people (cheap to employ as identities would be unknown (liken to The banker of DOND)
Plenty of audience particiapation thus very little scripted bits
3 hours long
PERFECT !!
Sponsors, hmmm , maybe ..... (I'll edit it later when I can think of one!)
Downside:
Does it fit in with Simon Shaps edgyness of the "bold" new ITV???
Too innovative for ITV
ITV don't really care about children (its their own future of broadcasting that they are destroying with this current philosophy)
