Where has this idea that CITV are suddenly relying on imports come from. There doesn't to me seem to be a significant increase compared with other channels or past schedules
Of the 10 programmes that are currently airing after 4pm, 8 out of 10 are UK commissions.
its just the fact that they seem to depend on their best shows being imports, we dont have anything of the US quality because CiTV's budget wont allow it
I think Eggman was the literal translation from the Japanese name or something, whilst Robotnik was his proper English name... it just seems a few years back for some unknown reason they stopped using his proper English name. :S (I'm no expert on these things, for the record... )
And for all the stuff about imports being so bad, a high proportion of the most successful and high quality shows in recent years have been co-productions or wholly imports from Canada (yes, even Reboot was Canadian). There's nothing wrong with imports of Childrens Television, it's just down to what they choose to import.
Also, Sonic X, as much as I love the blue bomber myself, is a joke as far as Sonic related tomfollery is concerned and should have never been shown on CITV, especaily if they are goign to edit what has aleardy been edited.
I used to love Sonic when I was younger, but when they started calling Robotnik "Dr. Eggman", I lost interest. Whoever came up with the idea of calling him Eggman must either be 5 years old, or very drunk.
Actualy, "Eggman" is his orgional JP name, in the US, they called him Robotnik and it sorta went to heck from there, mobius and all.
Though that's what I grew up with, being a fan of the early games, watching the Cartoon that was on Channel 4 in the mid-90s & being a reader of Sonic the Comic for 3 years. Maybe it's sticking with what you grew up with, but at least Robotnik sounds like it had some thought put into it, Eggman sounds like asking a 5 year old for ideas.
And it's probabally cheaper to buy in US shows than make thier own. Most of the home made CiTV productions at the moment are hardly high budget anyway.
I have mixed reactions about the hour cutting at the moment.
It could be a good thing as a boost and lead in to the CiTV channel, or it could be a bad thing as less people will watch CiTV on ITV1 and then not watch the channel either.
For me, one of the best eras came in the late 90's. Especially as presentation went back live, great shows were still around, and they had many a live programme which I always liked. Even though I was technically a child in the early/mid 90's the lack of any presenters in the mid 90's didn't make me like it as much as the late 90's. Though some of the best programmes were around in the early 90's such as Fun House, the original Finders Keepers, Reboot, Spatz, Mike & Angelo, Children's Ward, plus does anyone remember Captain Zed (a programme about superheroes and sleeping that I recall)?
Personally from a channel I would like to see a mixture of programmes for tots and the older kids (even adults), live programming (even if it's just the return of Mad For It), old material and some new material too!
Though as said, it'll most probably end up being endless My Parents are Aliens with a voiceover between programmes, if that.
For me personally, I've only had Sky for 4ish years, and childrens channels have changed. Even if it's just the case that the only In vision presentation nowadays is on CBBC & CBeebies.
Somebody earlier said that children's channels are made up of the majority of US shows. I personally can't say that I've seen non US programmes on many children's channels (with the exception of CBBC/CBeebies), the only thing that I can think of is the CITV programmes on Nick.
