Does anyone know if MOM will be returning late on in the year or that's it?
Also, it's wide-spread on the Digital Spy forums that CiTV will be ending at 4:30pm to make way for The Price Is Right to compete with Deal Or No Deal (even though it has a 15minute lead still). This is bad news as Sabrina season 4 is airing fridays 4:30pm so will most-likely be pulled when the hours are cut. I hope they continue with it on the CiTV Channel.
Such a shame everything that was once great about ITV is dissapering. CITV used to be unmissable when I used to watch.
Sad news, but not surprising. ITV claim children are well-catered for with dedicated channels but they're not - only the BBC and ITV have the means to produce quality children's television. Nickelodeon and cohorts are built on imported pap.
I'm currently transferring my recordings of Children's Ward from VHS to DVD - and I'd forgotten just how great a show this was. It covered serious issues sensitively (often more so than the "adult" soaps), launched the careers of many including Jane Danson and Danny Dyer, and certainly gave its BBC rivals a run for their money. And The Ward (as it was renamed) reached its peak in 1995.
Will we see its like again on CITV? We can only dream. My Parents Are Aliens was the only drama CITV was committed to recently and that went on far too long - look at how the cast aged. And now that has ended; ITV have seized upon its demise to further shirk its PSB obligations.
ITV's reasons for cutting CITV are flawed. They want to take on BBC2 and C4; but C4 have a tradition of popular afternoon game shows going back to when they launched. Ready Steady Cook has been there for over 12 years now. Besides, The Price Is Right doesn't work in a half-hour slot and if it's watered down for daytime I can't see it lasting long.
ITV is looking for a scapegoat for the Paul O'Grady fiasco, and CITV is it.

Well said. Only My Parents Are Aliens hasn't finished.
I think in this multi-channel world this is a right move by ITV.
Millions of homes now have digital television - the majority of them have Sky.
Children are very well catered for on digital television, many having their own niche channel - e.g. CBeebies.. the main terrestrial channels don't need to broadcast childrens television as much, as most of them come home from school and put on Cartoon Network or Nickledoen.
It's a fact that between 3.30pm and 5pm, BBC1 and ITV1 perform 4th and 5th in the ratings
This is because kids don't make a point of tuning into a little slot on terrestrial TV when they've got dozens of channels broadcasting all day on Sky.
Times have changed, we arn't living in 1990 anymore where the only children's TV anywhere was broadcast in the afternoons
As well as CITV, CBBC are already cutting back in their hours on BBC1/2 (such as hardly any special service during school holiday mornings). At digital switchoff this will be one of the first things to go

You have clearly missed the point of my last post. Yes, there are several dedicated children's channels. But they buy in programmes, often from the US, and repeat them ad nauseum. There are occasionally token efforts at original production, ie. Renford Rejects, but this is negligable.
In this multichannel age, children's programming on the BBC and ITV have never been more important. Only they have the means to provide original, quality, thought-provoking programmes for young people; Channel 4 could but chooses not to. We're almost at the stage where the BBC has a monopoly on quality children's programming and this isn't good for young viewers.
Why is it not good for younger viewers? They're still getting the quality programming, it's only CITV obsessives that fret over this latest development.
But i hope they do improve CiTV.A lot of their shows disappeared in 2005.The Big Bang went,Eliminator went,UP2U went [and skillz is NOT a replacement!],How 2 probably went and Sooty probably went.
They need to bring back some of the shows that have disappeared, especially Eliminator,UP2U and Sooty.
