Perhaps GMTV had first run rights and hadn't run those episodes yet, so CITV couldn't?

No. Digimon never aired on GMTV, it was always on the afternoon or weekend CITV slots. GMTV did have some other Saban shows though.

GMTV were showing plenty of Saban shows well before Disney bought them, the Power Rangers shows for a start.

Disney had a 25% share from the start didn't they?

Yes, but Disney didn't own Saban until 2001.

Well according to TVTropes

Quote:

Digimon was probably one of the most poorly handled programmes at CITV, throughout its run the series was treated with little regard, as episodes were repeated to hell, shown once and never again, or just missed altogether. With Digimon Adventure, CITV actually skipped most of the third arc and went straight into the fourth, meaning Kari and Gatomon appeared seemingly out of nowhere and Myotismon's fate went unknown (the arc was broadcast a couple of years later, albeit at a time when it wasn't really relevant anymore). Digimon Adventure 02 got even worse treatment, with the second half of the series being broadcast at a painfully slow, on-and-off rate until, four episodes from the end, CITV dropped the series and aired the first four episodes of Digimon Tamers in its place! To add insult to injury, CITV never broadcast any more Tamers episodes (or even repeated the four they'd shown already), and never broadcast the concluding episodes of Adventure 02, which they could've shown anyway had they not decided to replace them with Tamers episodes.

Don't get triggered but In my opinion Digimon was better than Pokemon. Well the TV series that is. Pokemon is only louder.

The theme song was wank though.

The series had a better storyline which flowed and great character development. Plus the average Digimon were more powerful than your average pokemon.

When it comes to theme songs, I would give the Japanese themes a listen, much better (they used it in translation for the German and Spanish versions too)

I understand that it wasn't a "new" concept, but I just think it didn't suit the then traditional after school slot on analogue terrestrial television.

I looked forward to my favourite shows more when they were on weekly, it was more of an event that way.

It meant they used up big shows, such as that year’s new series of My Parents are Aliens within 2 and a half weeks, rather than being able to advertise it for 13 weeks. So successful they only did it once.

When you are running shows like Rugrats or Sister Sister every day every week for years and you’ve got loads of new and old episodes at your disposal, it obviously works better.
