Rupert - Is it the 70's ATV/ITC episodes ?

I'm assuming not.

I'm guessing it's the sort of American-ised 1990's version, which was shown on CITV at the time, IIRC it had something to do with Scottish Television.

Correct, it was a Nelvana (Canadian company) tie up with Scottish TV (as it was then). They also co-prpduced The Hurricanes, and the 1980's versio of Paddington Bear!!!. Didn't they also co-produce reboot???? (not quite sure to be honest!)

also I'm sure there produced "Birds" & " flying rhion jnr high" but these two never made out of scotland althrough the latter did get on to cartoon network,
also didn't Scottish tv have some to do with Captian Z ( that going back a few years!)

I don't see why the CiTV Channel show much more variety in it's schedules. The half term line-up it atrocious.

What about shows such as It's a Mystery, Sabrina (stopping it a few weeks on CITV1 mid-way through season 4), Fun House, Jungle Run (Dominic Wood), Wolf It, Eliminator, Brilliant Creatures, Weirdsister College, Zzzap, Spooks of Bottle Bay, Finders Keepers (Neil Buchanon), Girls In Love, Top 10 of Everything etc.
Even if they don't own most of the rights, they can't be that expensive to buy these days as they haven't seen the light of day in a few years.

Hopefully, the CITV Channel will turn around and realise that there are way to many new "crappy" shows on their channel and buy some of these quality shows.

Agree with you there, they don't need to go back to the 80's, but series from the end of the 90's and the 00's would still be great to be played out, most kids would most probably not remember them.

To the new series coming to the channel now...
They did hold How 2 back for some reason last year, I don't know why it is. They could even be making a new series for this year too, it's always nice to have Fred, Gareth and Gail on screen.

I was never a fan of rupert when I was a kid, but at least its something different.

As for Sooty, the way that they say Hotel Sooty, means that it could be Sooty Heights, or they could just be showing The Sooty Show, with the fab theme tune, where the hotel was coloured, and just about a hotel still, though not many guests came. Though I think they only had one series with Brenda and the usual puppets and then they went to horrible (scary) puppets for some reason and wrong voices, very bad move.

Not great news, though it depends if it's measured collectively as the channel isn't on Sky or NTL as of yet.

I see that "Sooty" is going to be being aired on sundays at 2pm in double bills starting from next week (14th May). This must mean that the football matches have finished and CiTV can be on fully on sunday afternoons.
Airing just before Sooty on sunday afternoons will be Rupert at 1:30pm, also in double bills.

Here's some programme detail for Sooty (Sunday 14th May):

Quote:
Two episodes of the classic children's puppet comedy. Sooty and Sweep decide to make a robot - which accidentally knocks Richard out. Richard sets out to impress his posh visitor, Lady Charlotte. Sooty, Sweep and Micki quickly discover that she is a burglar and is trying to rob the hotel

Unfortunately, it sounds as if it isn't Sooty Heights, which I preffered as the song was so much better "Sooty Heights and it's Delights..." rather than "izzy whizzy whizzy whizzy whiz" in The Sooty Show which didn't work with the jazzed up theme.
Also, as fanoftv mentionned, I hope the air the second-to-last series of The Sooty Show because the last ever series did have weird looking pupperts and horrid voices in particular Sweep and Soo. Infact, if you read the review of Sooty on IMDB, they mention the introduction of tatty puppets and Soo's voice.

By the way, what did happen to Liana (richards assistant) in Sooty Heights? She was suddenly replaced with Vicki when it went back to "The Sooty Show".
