why miss out a whole audience that don't have freeview?

Again, you're making it sound like it's through choice Rolling Eyes I'm sure they want as wide an audience as possible for the launch. I'm pretty sure that somehow, it will be on Sky from day one... maybe on ITV4 if they can't get the channel number straight away.

Wouldn#t it be reported by now? Though saying that, look at ITV3's quick launch and ITV4's on M&M

I have a theory that it could be through choice. Launching the channel as Freeview exclusive for a while might work in their favour.

Putting the 'pester power' theory into practice, if ITV launch the channel on Freeview only it'll create a demand for the kids who will urge their parents to get Freeview (possibly for their own TV sets in their bedrooms).

ITV face less competition on Freeview and no doubt that's where they intend to 'dominate the market' as they have said.

Having said that, given ITV's past channel launches I'm not sure they're that clever. But if they really want the launch to be on Sky they'd be broadcasting on ITV4 until they have their EPG position.

some of the things in that Red Bee press release makes me think that CiTV will not have presenters Sad

Quote:
Red Bee Media has created two versions of the identity, one for pre-school children and the other for school age children that will be used according to the type of programming and time of day. These are differentiated by colour and tone of voice - with the younger identity being soft blue and the older a bright red. The on-screen presentation system for each age group includes menus, break bumpers and promo ends and will ensure the channel is clearly branded throughout the junctions.

It's better than nothing though.

How many children's channels (except CBBC and CBeebies) have had presenters through the day? I know that Nick and Disney have always had them in the afternoon, but was there a time when all links had presenters?

Nick and Disney stopped all live links last year

CiTV to be available on telewest form launch

So it looks as though it isn't deliberately only on freeview, if it will also be on telewest.

Presumebly tomorrow will have to be the last day to broker any deals for EPG numbers or to decide if they will air on Sky & NTL via ITV4, presumebly just for advertising it ready for Saturday. It's great that ITV leave things till the last minute.

On GMTV this morning - there was quite a big hint that there will be presenters.
There were 2 people in the studio - the presenters of Toonatic, saying that they will present the younger kids tv. Holly and Stephen was in the Saturday Showdown studio saying they will present the older childrens tv. So.... Laughing

Edit: Unless they are saying toonatic will be on Citv Channel and the presenters will be presenting the show on Citv Channel

If its true, will they host the channel from their own shows?. I.E Holly and Stephen presenting from their flat even when Showdown isn't on?
