CITV went out of vision continuity in about 1993 or something I think because that was the year I got SKY and I only remember seeing the cartoon out of vision characters at friends houses.

P.S. Does anyone know why this weekend the cbbc channel have been reapeating the episode of dick & dom from 9am again at 1pm?
Because they have nothing better to show.
That programme is unbelievable. Those two shouldn't be allowed near children.

Before invision continuity on citv returned in may 1998, they had short trailers leading up to it, with a space ship flying towards citv town accompanied by a 4 note tune, screen went black with the words THEY'RE COMING and the new logo beneath. The friday before relaunch on monday this trailer was shown with the ship hitting citvtown, screen to black, they're coming and evrything then stephen and dannielle jumped through the paper version of the end black screen to say that they are going to be on air from monday, screen then went to black with voiceover of "Ah! THEY'RE HERE!"
In later years The Disney Club started at 9.25, though GMTV had a sunday disney programme before it. In the last incarnation, you had Dave Benson Phillips and wake up in the wild room on saturday mornings followed by the power rangers, whilst on sunday it was Paul 'DES' Ballard and Craig Doyle (now on BBC's Holiday programme) with the road hog that was one of those old VW van things painted silver with orange dots and a hogs face on the front that traveled up and down the country each sunday. At the end of the roadhog, they linked into the disney club next, this was also linked by the old gmtv kids lightning logo next caption. In the last years of the disney club, quite a few presenters that are still going presented Reggie Yates - now smile, Fearne Cotton - now The Saturday Show, Smile, Call the Shots, Finger Tips and Eureka TV, Paul 'DES' (why is he nicknamed Des?) Ballard - DiGGiT until last year, dont know where he's gone, Sam someone that had dark brown/blackish hair went into hollyoaks a few years ago, and Craig Doyle now does the Holiday Programme. Craig then left and the last few series were the kids on their own. As Fearne and Des went on to do DiGGiT, they ended the show, and citv took over the slot following sunday DiGGiT. For some reason The Disney Club could only stay on till 10.15, and then citv stayed on till 10.30, one week from 9.25 till 11.30 - that was a good show started with stephen & dannielle in bed single shots of both, then they talked on the phone saying things like have we forgotten something, sat up sharply looked at each other with the two beds and different wallpaper trick shouting CiTV on a sunday, titles ran.
Has CiTV got a certain amount of hours it airs that they cannot exceed, as this morning there was no premiership repeat, but itv still put the story keepers on until citv started at 9.55. Why don't itv give up on crossroads, & let citv stay on air till 5.30 (or even 6 as all programmes on itv 5-6pm are rubbish) and show a classic programme a day or something.

The CBBC channel Is just well rubbish to say the least at the weekend!
They show Dick and Dom from 09:00 - 16:00 each weekend.
Remember the good old days, when "Children's" could be used in full, there used to be 'The Children's Channel' at one time as well didn't they, and that also went to abbreviations!

I think the generic ident came in 1989 during the Stonewall era and went out along with with the in-vision presentation in 1993?

I thought it was dropped in 1992 as the objects in the the first frame of the "What's Up Doc" titles were superimposed individually onto the 1991 CITV logo at the beginning of the show.

But as far as I can remember it was only ever used to open and close CITV for the day, either way I've got a video somewhere of Tommy Boyd followed by the generic ident at the end of Children's ITV.
I can't be sure, because I only really watched CITV regularly when Scally was on it, some how Tommy Boyd didn't have the same affect

Another thing I remember about CITV in the early-mid 90s was a couple of wolves they had (think they were called Bro & Bro) who first appeared on Wot's up Doc but got their own show (I think it was called Wolf It) and for soem reason they always ate everybody- soemone at CITV must've had a sick mind.
The 2 wolves were particulary sick and their humour was quite adult for a Saturday Morning .......... Great !!!
However I remeber reading in the papers that the ITC had received so many complaints about the humour on the show in particular about the wolves, that if STV didn't revise the situation, the ITC would consider revoking STV's broadcasting licence....a bit harsh I thought.
After that the show wasn't the same and was destroyed in the ratings by live and kicking.

also, did the dropage of the 'Childrens' bit coincide with the out of vision continuity starting or was that later??
I'm confused now, I should have paid more attention at the time!

I think it was always spoken as 'CITV' although somewhere I have an interesting recording from 1994ish of the start of CITV with the normal logo (some plain animation with a cat in it) and then Children's written in a blue Comic Sans font.
