Well I will start the first proper topic. What did everybody think of the CITV birthday show this morning. I thought it was really good and nostalgic with all the ex CITV presenters including Matthew Kelly with his old CITV sweater on and Roland Rat shame there was no Tommy Boyd but yes it was well worth setting the alarm for.

Yes it was very good, shame they didn't extend it a bit to show some full version old shows Wink

All in all, a really good show. Shame the titles were largely restricted to the 'cake' in the style of the current titles and big shows like Knightmare were reduced to clips but Roland was great - "Milton Keynes twinned with Kabul!" and the reference to TV-am.

Lots of talk of "Children's ITV", the fact the programme was based in Birmingham and recorded/live continuity.

Really good effort and the obligatory credits at the end! Great show. Let's hope Children's BBC made the effort in a couple of years time.

Cheers, Asa

For maximum nostagia effect they could have let us off the DOG. But what did they do? Made the bloody thing bigger with a few stars! Why no mention of Glenn Kinsey, the final in-vision presenter pre-1993? And thank God there was no footage of Gilbert.

Thankfully there weren't any clips of the irritating Mark Granger who only presented for about a year or so. However I don't think he was annoying as the many characters voiced by Steve Ryde who as we all know now works on "Dick And Dom In Da Bungalow".
It was great to have most of the other ex presenters in the studio and to see the titles to shows such as Ghost Train and Motormouth (1988-89). However the show was spoiled just a tiny bit the in South East as they went to the first ad-break before the original Children's ITV ident was shown but apart from that I thought it was a brilliant effort made by the CITV team and an interesting show.

Boy was Roland in free flow! It looked like Michael was panicking with his references to Ty-phoo Tea and TV-am! Great stuff - the ultimate political animal, you could say! Gary Terzza almost dropped a bloomer too, mentioning Debbie Shore's Page 3 days...

Gary Terzza used to be an announcer for Central in the 80s. He since moved to Channel 4 and I believe he is still there to this day. Can't say for sure if he's been on other channels. I'm sure others will vouch for that.

oweing to the lack of captures in this thread, plus i realise there are members who do not venture into the central/bbc midlands (or look north/calendar) type threads for understandable reasons - so heres a post of mine from over in the central/mt thread on the subject:

... heres good old michelle proving just how close the 2 sets are in reality. we knew they were both in studio A - but i never dreamed they were so very near!

we were treated to some highlights to this morning's show - and michelle even mentioned "central studios" at one point.

and look who it is - its garry terrza from central continuity - now at ch4 (isnt he?)

quick chat with leah and michael who are the current presenters

then with someone important

finally bob, llew and mark laugh about the mess grotbags used to leave the central make-up room in

rather nice of central to celebrate 20 years of a strand which rarely gets recognised as a central production.

shame the dog was retained today - but i suppose its not such a recent addition on citv - so can sort of be justified.

on reflection a very nice tribute to a great strand of programmes.

That happened on all the regions I think. It certainly happened where you are, and on Tyne Tees as well. As it happens, it was probably only the Rocketship ident, and they seemed to show that often enough during the programme anyway.

The other ident they seemed to show an awful lot of was the Generic 89 one. Do they really like it or something?

Overall though, it was a brilliant programme. I still think they had a nerve showing clips from Reboot, considering they axed the programme without showing all of the third series!
