I imagine most kids have no prejudice about how old something is or its production value, so a retro strand would work for them. Bad example maybe, but my 4 year old niece loves Count Duckula, as we have them all on DVD. Bad example because that show really has not aged at all.

Quite. When I was growing up in the 80s and 90s some of the best shows were Thunderbirds from the 60s and Rentaghost from the 70s.

Maybe we should bombard the BBC with emails suggesting that for CBBC's 30th in a few years they ought to show a Maid Marion Marathon?

Another Granada Kids endcap at the end of Jungle Run.

I've never seen that before. MPAA jumped straight from the Granada Media Children's one we saw yesterday to the purple GR/N/D/one.

Dangermouse and Sooty have made my day. And Button Moon was probably my favourite show as a kid - can't believe how cheap it looked now, but that's the whole charm.

Also love seeing all these shows generally presented by middle-aged men most parents nowadays wouldn't let their kids anywhere near. I doubt most viewers of CITV/CBBC/CBeebies today have ever seen anyone over 25 present a kids show before.

I love the fact that they clearly don't try to hide the fact that it was made with Heinz Baked Bean tins and old mops. If anything, it might make the kids watching it want to build characters using discarded Baked Bean tins Smile Lovely stuff.

WHat has my 41yr old life come to when I have settled down to watch a recorded 28 year old repeat of Ranbow...!

By the look at those ratings there are a lot of us about!

Did the budget stretch to Heinz Baked Beans? Wink
Who was it on one of those "top 100" countdown type shows who said Button Moon was like The Clangers on a budget of about 20p?

I wonder if the reason for using such random Knightmare episodes is to test the market for a new version? Using landmark episodes would be no good for this.

Justin Fletcher is 42, Pui Fan Lee is 41 - in fact, all current presenters of CBeebies I can find are aged over 25. CBBC presenters are all under 25, but I think that's been the case for quite a while.
