I would love ITV Plc to announce a bit more investment in the CITV brand for the 30th anniversary. After all this investment could pay off in the future, when the Children of today choose the ITV of tomorrow...maybe.
As for the anniversary itself, it would be nice to see a few 'golden oldies'...
Not all animations are timeless, cartoon styles and tastes change. The classics like Scooby Doo and The Flintstones last very well - although in terms of picture quality they certainly look dated - but others don't.
There areso many classic British children's programmes that are no longer repeated, and yet could easily be shown... (some pre-dating CiTV and Watch It) - yes some may seem old now but the stories are still there...
Most of this lot is on DVD now anyway...
Mr Majeika was a TVS production so will probably never see the light of day again.
Spatz was a Thames Production, and distribution handled by Fremantle. Apparently got six years out of three series due to repeats.
With regards to Starfleet, may never have been repeated but at least it's available on DVD.
Does not Auntie have the TV transmission rights to 1960s Captain Scarlet?
Worst Witch has been aired on CITV channel.

I know quite a few are not held by ITVplc but I it cant be that expensive to get to show - if not cheaper than a lot of the "newer" imports.
Not necessarily. Bearing in mind much of pre 1988 TV was made at a time when it would only go on one channel and agreements were on that basis, even Network have said on occasion it's a heck of a job to go through all these on occasion to get something released on DVD.
When you start looking back at old kids shows and compare what kids tv is like now (mostly imported american) People are gonna wonder what has happened to kids tv why are we not making more british shows etc.

One reason is due to the itv stupid management around itv digital fiasco which lead to big budget cuts for citv.

Wrong. It's because of the ban on junk food advertising during kids shows.
No the problems really did start a few years early in 2000. During 2001 CITV budget was cut by 17% due to the advertising recession, Further cuts took place again during 2002 which brought the total cutback to 25% of the overall budget (£30million less).
You telling me having £30million less did not cause problems? it was never reinstated, add on the cut backs in live CA in brum to recorded in 2004 and it just adds up.

Where are you getting these figures from?
The junk food ad ban was certainly a contributory factor, but when they were struggling in the early 2000's post merger, children's was just one of the things they wanted to get rid of. The reduction in ad revenue would have made it even less economic than it was before

I've not idea what this has to do with anything, of all the redundances, cost cutting and re-organisation that's gone on at ITV over the last 10 years it's a very minor thing.
