Oh yeah loved that in it's early days. They also had the Metal look studio when it was "CiTV Be Part Of It" and you could text and go to the website which was given out as citv.co.uk at the time, none of this itv.com/.
Have watched some of the stuff on youtube I forgot they used the slogan "CiTV, It's a (fitted in with program i.e worst witch they would say) It's a Spooky kind of thing"
OK, I'm starting to feel old, which is quite scary. All this talk of our favourite eras being yellow crabs and 2003-04 ( ).... my eras of Children's ITV were as follows:
However, even though I was very young when Gary Terzza left Children's ITV, I do actually remember his era as well. That was thanks to my grandpa who recorded various shows for me during the 1987-88 period which I watched off tape ad nauseum. In fact, I've still got 2 tapes somewhere of this sort of continuity:
However, I have much stronger memories of Children's BBC during the late 80s/early 90s than Children's ITV.
I can remember bit's of Tommy Boyd, I think when he went and they lost the presenters I watched a lot of CBBC with Edd The Duck etc I think I stopped watching it around 2000-01.
Anyone remember this one? The long version had stuff like "with Tilly, Tom and Tiny, Tots 1,2&3" can't find that one though

Definitely showing my age as I was one of those that used to watch CHiPs in the slot pre-Watch It! and Children's ITV. Never understood shortening the name to CITV (same goes with CBBC). Even now I call it Chidren's ITV.
Because who says "children" these days? Everyone says "kids" instead. Certainly the youngsters themselves do. So "Children's" was practically an anachronism.
It seems odd now that the 1989 ident co-existed alongside whatever Stonewall/Central were doing at that point for so long, a rather cack-handed attempt at imposing a brand it seems no-one wanted. By the Tommy Boyd days it was only at the start of the sequence - which means I only ever saw it on Saturday mornings, so my memories are of it being essentially "the Motormouth ident"!
Speaking of Tommy Boyd, it does seem a bit of a jump now going from the ultra-modern and of-its-time Stonewall era to Tommy sitting behind a desk being whimsical. I quite liked him at the time but I doubt it was too much of a success with kids. I do remember the day it changed in April 1991 and it being a complete turnaround in the style of presentation. And then when it went out-of-vision in 1993 I lost interest completely, it was so impersonal and cheap-looking.
I've never liked the 'C' thing either. It seems odd that both channels chose the same sort of name too, not once but twice. Though I think ITV had both 'Childrens' and 'C' first.
I was never really a Children's ITV fan, I'd watch some programmes on it but don't remember ever really engaging with the bits between.

I've never really liked saying 'kids' though. I think it's because I remember a primary school teacher asking "are you a goat?" every time someone said it. I've never been able to shake it off, so it's Children's BBC/ITV to me

Children's BBC as a title was a direct copy of Children's ITV, you're right. Reducing it to C I guess is a logical progression but I think CBBC were using it informally earlier (you can see "CBBC" in small letters in the background of the green 1989 ident) although Children's ITV officially became CITV a good three years or so before CBBC did.
It was odd that despite being there first, CITV basically spent years trying to find something that worked as well as the broom cupboard, changing the style continually. In particular the 1989-1991 era seemed to be trying to out-do CBBC in terms of "behind the scenes" presenting locations and then the Tommy Boyd set was pretty much a direct copy, before they just gave up for a while.
