ITV Tribute scheduling....

ITV is to air a tribute to the late Cilla Black on Tuesday night in memory of the popular entertainer who died at the weekend.

It is adapting The One and Only Cilla Black, a special documentary which aired two years ago to mark Black’s 50 years in showbusiness.

The one-hour documentary looked back on her singing and television career and it will be updated, opening with a tribute from Black’s long-time friend Paul O’Grady.

To celebrate the life of one of its biggest stars, ITV is also re-broadcasting the acclaimed drama Cilla, starring Sheridan Smith on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights at 10.40pm.

It's a shame they no longer have a suitable platform to show an episode of Blind Date or Surprise Surprise.

Couldn't Blind Date get a showing on Challenge?

Would be nice if we could get a showing of both on ITV on Sunday.

They have a two hour Midsomer Murders scheduled so it would be easy to remove that and put those two in its place.

I don't know where they stand on rights but they haven't shown it for a very long time. I don't recall Challenge ever being the sort to air programmes in light of a famous passing.

I would have hoped that ITV would have made a new documentary. Also The One and Only ain't a documentary, it was a live special wasn't it?

A new one within one day? that's not possible, I doubt Paul or her manager will be up for that right now.

They could if they wanted too - they'd fit in fine on the main channel as a tribute or on ITV3.

Rebroadcasting The One and Only is perfectly acceptable as a tribute - it does seem TV no longer waits for people to die to celebrate their career and for two notable showbiz deaths this year that has proved rather handy for ITV.

They've turned ITV3 into primarily drama with a hint of occasional out-dated sitcom. It's times like this where I long for Granada Plus.
