I go with the usual for BBC One.

05.30 : christmas film for children (or as a couple of years ago, each morning at this time show a different land before time film, there are 7 aren't there?)

* For those of you that aren't familiar or dont remember over major holidays such as easter and christmas, BBC One is the home of childrens programmes in the morning with a breakfast type service provided by news 24 on BBC Two.

07.00 : CBeebies: Tweenies (christmas special)
07.30 : Bob the builder (xmas special)
07.45 : Christmas Boo! (finding the christmas presents, mainly for the theme tune!)

08:00 : CBBC (cant think of any shows that could go in there at the mo, usual Chucklevision, Tracy Beaker, Blue Peter repeat from yesturday; as Blue Peter always have their last show on xmas eve as they light the last candle on the advent crown.)

11:00 : Church service from somwhere in the UK.

12:30 : Family film (aimed more at getting the kids back after the church service!)

14:00 : Wouldnt mind seeing a Noel's Christmas Present's return; didnt they do one last year or the year before but with a different name and without noel? Either this or a christmas edition of tv mail.

15:00 : The Queen; back by popular demand, live at 3 its the queen!

15:10 : As tradition, the only show that can follow the queen (bar James Bond), Top of the Pops Christmas Special.

16:00 : News update; weather.

16:15 : Robbie the reindeer; new adventure.

Ill continue thsi later when Ive had more thought. Basically the usual though!

I've quoted you twice so you cant suggest I'm misrepresnting you. You've changed your point from one of , "not in keeping with the spirit of the day" to, "chance to try something different". Simon I'm doing my best here but it seems you are shifting goalposts with your argument.

No I haven't; I maintain both viewpoints. So I'm not shifting any goalposts.

As soaps by their very nature cover day to day life of the residents, they need to have an xmas episode where we find out who's having christmas dinner with who/who's drinking too much because they are on their own after their wife died etc, so where better to have the xmas day episode of soaps than on xmas day. Seeing the residents of Coronation Street eating their turkey on Boxing Day would be a bit funny

How true. Though i dont like how itv especially use up at least two hours of their prime time schedule with soaps. Is prefer to see more entertainment programming on. Though usually by about 9pm we get started on christmas party gams, or the lastest game that someone has bought.! Last year it was family fortunes, the year before the weakest link. Then when all of us gather again a week later for new year, we try and play the same game again!

Not me pal, especially as you bleated on about how Christmas telly wasn't like 1977's LAST YEAR!

And as we all told you last year - nobody had a PC in 1977, or videogames (alright, but there's only so much fun you can get out of that blip-blip game and they cost a bomb) or the Internet, DVD's, etc. - and VHS was still the prevelidge of the wealthy few.

Quite frankly to me, that schedule looks quite boring, really. I'll be too stuffed and drunk from about 3:30pm onwards, so I don't really care. On Xmas day I probably watch little telly apart from the soaps. Having two sisters in their teens now, we don't get up so early anymore. We'll wake up about 8:30am, open pressies then I'll eat breakfast and go to church, if I didn't do the night before. I will do this year as I know that I'm going to be working Xmas Eve as my shift is on Wednesday nights. I'll meet my dad and his mate at about noon in our local, and we'll have a few beers, strolling back about 2pm to the house. Dinner will be served about 2.30pm and I - and I'm the only one who does this as well as church, may I add - break at 3 for the Queen for 10 minutes. By about 3.30 to 4 the meal finishes and at 4.30 the family will go and sleep for a couple of hours, or more - last year I didn't wake up till 7.30! Once I beome a little more orientated - and I've actually sobered up a little bit! - we start again with the big soaps on the telly, the only telly I really watch. I'll pop up here about 10 to go on the net, and chat with anyone who happens to be on MSN at the time or in here.

My Xmas Day will not revolve around telly! It revolves around the true meaning of the day in the morning, getting off my face during the afternoon, and sleeping it off over teatime. Like many.

BTW it appears everything on Xmas Day '77 was networked...can't see any "Programmes as Westward except" details.

Remember lots of people spend Christmas alone, so the TV/radio is their only company.

So the one thing that has become clear is we want "Noel's Christmas Presents" back, so if the BBC doesn't care come on ITV or SKY !!

I would really like to see CBBC back on BBC1 in the mornings this Christmas. I think BBC2 covers CBBC these days over Bank Holiday weekends and over Easter nowadays, leaving a very limited amount of programmes for BBC1 to show in it's place.
BBC2 used to show Breakfast News from 6am until 8.30am or 9am on Christmas Day and then show a morning of old black and white movies. BBC1 would then cover CBBC programmes and films all morning. I think this kind of morning schedule for the Christmas fortnight is much better and cators for more tastes.

BBC One still covers CBBC over bank holidays; im sur they did over easter and definately last christmas. Most of the daily schedule is aimed at kids, even though there is the CBBC channel.
