Great though it is to show Hollywood Blockbusters, but haven't we seen them all before ? at the cinema, on dvd, Sky movies, pay per view or video. Surely both the BBC and ITV would be better off spending the money on home grown specials. Who remembers the BBC Christmas Panto, the various Christmas Specials on ITV, hour long sitcom christmas specials, do these cost £10million ? What about Noels Christmas Presents on Christmas Day, Was there a dry eye in your house ? Lets face it weve lost it when it comes to getting excited over a movie that's over a year old and seen before and the real highlight of the day is the Eastenders cliffhanger.
I'l get off my soapbox now.

Noels Christmas Presents was a fantastic show. What are the chances of it being restored?

Christmas isn't Christmas without an Only Fools and Horses special.

Except the "Only Fools and Horses" special aren't that anymore. Time to lay it to rest........oh my god I'm sounding like the Grinch !

I think BBC1 could get away with an old comedy special every other Christmas, a one off Birds of A Feather or Keeping Up Appearances for example.

Aren't they doing a Men Behaving Badly one this year?

I loved five's festive treat last year, Stanley Baxter and Carry On Christmas.

Wonder what naff fonder ITV1 will pump out...

Next on ITV1 the Queen, a special programme in which Her Maj has her house totally redone by Prince Edward, and that's followed by another James Bond classic! Rolling Eyes Wink

As long as we don't have another Ground Force/Bargain Hunt xmas special like last year - that's what UK Style is for!

I hear that from 8am-12:05pm on Xmas day they're going to have highlights from this year's Paris athletics!

Not very long though until the "provisional" Xmas TV guides start coming out... usually towards the end of November - hasn't time flown!

This year's BBC Christmas Comedy Special is a double act of the new and old... The Office and the final Only Fools and Horses, both on BBC1.

As previously said - there is still the third Only Fools special to be shown.

I heard the Men Behaving Badly was looking for a Christmas Special but without Leslie Ash - I don't think anybody is interested in her since her bad makeover.

Well, her trout pout is a tad offputting. Reminds me of when Corrie's Ivy Tilsley had her lips done. Silly old cow looked like she'd been hit with a bat.

I think ITV *should* go for this. Half-hour ITV News bullys are there to make it easy to just put the ITV NC output on.

06.00 GMTV
09.25 CITV
10.30 Morning Eucharist Service
12.00 ITV News & Weather
12.30 Film 1
15.00 The Queen
15.10 Feature-Length Drama
17.00 ITV News & Weather
17.30 Coronation Street
18.30 Emmerdale
19.30 Pop Idol Winner Documentary (or maybe something on Kelly Clarkson?)
20.30 Who Wants To Be A Milionaire
21.30 ITV News & Weather
22.00 Celine Dion Concert (seen this trotted out a few times at Xmas - it's a live gig at Memphis during the peak of her career, it's pretty damn good too)
23.00 Whatever you like, I was too stuffed and drunk to care 6 hours ago...

I have seen the Xmas ep. of Corrie go out at 2.30pm before, breaking for the Queen then continuing but this was about 1989/1990 I think. If Crossroads and Night & Day were still on, then these would pad out the lunchtime, I remember this being done in 2001.
