Right, the holidays are now coming!

The contrast on the advert was so dark I could hardly see it. There's better quality copies of the advert than that on YouTube, which I assume must've been recorded from European TV or something. Wonder why the UK copy is so poor?

I understand that Coca-Cola have new branding and a new slogan these days but surely they could play the original (and difinative) 'Always Coca-Cola' version but just redo the Santa Claus animation on the back of the truck to say 'The Coke Side Of Life' or whatever slogan they use now? They just don't care about the advert anymore, they didn't even crop it into 14:9 or 16:9.

In my book that most certainly is caring for the advert. Give us a smile ffs, holidays are coming man!

Maybe but it is not the definative version of the 'Holidays Are Coming' advert, the version I mention is the one where the tens of trucks go through the Hamlets and Towns and light up everything as they go past. This version.

Even the one with the 'Grandad, Brat & Fireplace' would do but they chose a version which I have never seen before 2008 (is it a new version?), therefore I don't care about it so they could have cropped it to suit my 40'' Television better. One last moan, I rather liked that 'Weird Santa' advert but it was too depressing for Christmas which rather defeats the point of it really.

Additional: For everyone who really knows me, I am the ultimate Scrooge.

To be honest, I think that long advert is quite boring. It hasn't got as many things lighting up, and the only people you see are right at the end (unless you count the guy putting his lights up). Although I think the music is the best Smile

Cropping them to 16:9 isn't an option as the poor contrast is bad enough already and so much detail would be lost, it would look awful. You can see the full 60 second version of the ad here, by the way:

Our shorter version in the UK has been shown every Christmas for the last few years, so I don't understand how you can't have seen it before!

And as mentioned, the Toys R Us advert returned to air this evening. The video quality on this was pretty impressive for its age, with some definite work done to bring it up to date (or possibly even completely re-animated - though that seems a lot of work for a short sequence!)

Ed: See below for comparison. Definitely looks like they're redone all the animation!

I remember spending months looking for this on tape in 2001 when someone requested it... Funny how it's everywhere these days. Wink

How does that work?

Well you start drawing (with your computer based tool) and...

Yeah, it looks like its been completely reanimated though if you compare it against the originals floating on youtube (different colouring, extra artwork at the edges etc). I'd not expected they'd be going to that much effort really for what seemed a bit of a short term birthday gimmick from their releases, but it's certainly a nice touch! Laughing
