Actually, Christmas is only 50 days away. I personally think that discussing Christmas now is perfectly acceptable. In 24 days time it will be Advent Sunday. In 27 days (give or take a day or so) we will start seeing Christmas promo trails on BBC1. So I don't think the BBC are too early at all. After all, most people have started thinking about cards and presents anyway.

And by my calculations, the TV guides will be out on the 8th December - or even sooner, so listings will probably be announced around the 1st/2nd December - which isn't too far away.

The M&S Christmas advert airs tonight, starring Wallace and Gromit, Stephen Fry and Gene Hunt from the drama series 'Life On Mars' (in character) as well as the usual celebs.

M&S are actually doing seven different adverts this year and the home delivery ad will feature just Wallace and Gromit. Another will feature John Sergeant.

Still waiting to hear what Coca-Cola is doing.

Same strategy as recent years, ie trucks from mid-November to mid-December followed by a new campaign through to Christmas Day. Read about it here.
