Good to see that the best version of A Christmas Carol, Scrooge with Alastair Sim is showing on Sunday 20th December at 1.40pm on Channel Five. Who will also be showing Patrick Stewart's very good modern version of A Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve at 7.05pm.

And I think that Five's presentation really is superb these days now that they are keeping the Five onscreen for the lenth of the ident film and are manipulating in all sorts of fun ways, like with The Gadget Show idents.

The Best Christmas film has once again been left out of the listing, Scrooged

Five will probably do something but as for Channel 4, I don't think they've bothered since the rebrand in 2006.

Channel 4 rebranded in 2004 and really need to add new idents to their collection or rebrand completely as their Idents are boring.

I like those BBC Light Boxes and I believe they should use them for general presentation and not just for Christmas. Light Boxes are for life, not just for Christmas!

Was it not Jan 1st 2005?

STV launched their Christmas package at 7pm tonight. Can't believe they actually have something... Shocked
A simple, but effective ident, sparkly break bumpers, and that's about it. Nice they bothered, though.

Yep I saw this tonight. Good effort from STV for a change Very Happy

5 years on New Year's Eve.

It will be interesting to see if next year's 'creative renewal' will encompass channel branding. Personally, I think they could continue with the current theme for another 5 years such is its versatility, plus the idents themselves haven't aged a bit. But C4 do like to stay ahead of the game when it comes to TV presentation so who knows...

Think it was Dec 31st 2004 IIRC.

From what I've seen so far, Five win this year.
A 'proper' Christmas ident from FIVE - reminds me a little of an Easter ident on abc1.

Idents could definately stick around a few more years, but I think the rest of the package could do with an overhaul - break bumpers, endboards, menus etc.

I don't think anyone's mentioned it yet, which could be an indication of their typical viewership, but Virgin1's Christmas Package went to air, only today as far as I know (I didn't have it on much over the weekend mind, so don't quote me Razz). So far I've counted at least 3 festive idents though there could be more (and after considerable effort actually managed to catch 2 of them Laughing).

Full coverage of the menus, break flashes etc can be found over on TV Live

As for a few of the ident videos I managed to catch in full (I missed the full showing of a stocking variant earlier):-

Christmas Greeting (and no Sexcetera is not on my regular viewing habit Razz)

Edit: And another one spotted going into Challenge Jackpot. That means there's at least 4 idents from Virgin 1 this Christmas. Quite a good effort from such a relatively small channel!

From 2005, a beautiful sequence that would have been perfect for Christmas presentation...

I'm sure I've seen a new version this year that is just as good.

They're superb arent they! The new version isn't Christmas themed atall though which is a shame, there is a rather PC 'Winter Theme' from last years campaign , but tweaked for 2009, with more asian pink colours to fit with the decor of the Bullring this year.

Here is the one from last year

Wish I'd checked the date on the video I posted - it was 2005! Time flies.
