Last year they didn't, with Dancing on Ice on Christmas Day. And the year before they put Harry Hill on.
Much good it did them as well. TV Burp is very cheap to make and was dumped as filler opposite EastEnders, emphasised by the fact it was repeated in prime time three days later. Dancing On Ice didn't do very well either, Strictly beat Corrie but that did next to nothing opposite 'stEnders.
Victoria Wood's going to be on Christmas Eve, I think. You don't want to overload Christmas Night with stuff and it's probably better it goes out in primetime on another night than at half ten or something on Christmas Day. That'd just be a waste.
