I don’t think Dec 23rd is anywhere near the best day. ITV almost always put out a uneventful schedule on that day.

The best time is obviously now when IAC is on. It’s notable why it’s on now and not closer to Christmas

Indeed. There was a plethora of Christmas-related ads shown during I'm A Celeb last night- not at all surprising, given the high ratings the show gets. I imagine the ad revenue for the commercial breaks during this show over the next 3 weeks will be quite substantial.

Channel 5 have announced their first Christmas programme on their website, on the 21st of December, another animal programme

Away from animals I know C5 will be airing a Christmas special episode of Paddington Station 24/7 as they were filming some of it last year while I was passing through the station and contacts I have at Paddington (who have appeared in the programme!) say it is due to be aired this Christmas.

Why it is ever where i go there is Chirstmas adverts and decorations everywhere and people talking about Christmas and the adverts in October/November! Argghhh

Not exactly relevant to what we normally talk about here, but I'll provide you with an answer anyway: Capitalism.

Two easy solutions:
1) Don't go out and leave the TV off.
2) Go out but wear headphones and a blindfold. Try not to walk into a tree while doing this.

And it’s hardly too early now, as long as they stay after Bonfire Night, which they mostly did, it’s fine by me.

Money, that is why. In this era, Christmas begins on November 1st and ends on December 24th. The shops and companies have to squeeze as much profit out in these 54 days, competing with online brands, this is why we are bombarded.

Television loves to milk Christmas, which is why now we get the Christmas idents on BBC One usually on 1st December, which is a Saturday this year, and we might be seeing them unveiled then. BBC feels they are the national home for Christmas being the public funded broadcaster. ITV try and milk all the advertising revenue out by December 21st. Then they do as little as they can over the 12 days of Christmas, as advertising revenue is a dribble then.

So, 2018, and the new Christmas is now, not on December 25th.

To think that there was a time when Christmas was a celebration of the birth of Jesus and nothing but...

Also, last year some of the Christmas lights in Dublin city centre were up even before Halloween. They weren't switched on, mind, but they were up.

It'll be a long season - Easter falls on 21 April in 2019.

Not that I'm complaining here, though - I love Creme Eggs. Wink
