Isn't it more to do with the fact that it's only printed in one location nowadays IIRC .
Up to at least the mid 2000's when print runs were bigger the NI edition was on sale in Dublin on the same day as London
Because the print run is massive and there is a very short turnaround between the listings being confirmed and the on sale date.
If used to frustrate me when I lived outside of London but that’s how it is. If anything it’s just a bonus few days to capture the Christmas market in the largest populated bit of the country.

Think it was coined by the BBC and published by Wordwide but is now published 'under licence' so I presume its still technically a BBC Trademark?

Is the name 'Radio Times' owned by the BBC and licensed out to Immediate Media? If Radio Times folded would the BBC be able to use the name again (not necessarily for a print magazine)?

I’d prefer if they took more time if it meant the magazine was well made and worth the £4.90
The amount times the double issue has some pages that aren’t cut right, or with staples that don’t go all the way through. Then last year there was the problem where half the editions had the wrong local radio listings.

Yes, as part of the deal with Immediate, the BBC titles are under brand licence.

They had that today in Sainsbury's but only TV Choice was there. the other columns were empty.

In recent years the cover has always been blue with an animated drawing of either a snowman, THE snowman, or Father Christmas. There is always a ‘free’ book advertised along the top, and it always refers to itself as ledgendary
They only had Total TV Guide where I am in WHSmith.
Normally by Tuesday they’ll have one of those cardboard display units, and they will all be full except for the Radio Times column which will have a Greggs paper bag thrown in it.

Actually that's not correct. Radio Times was sold in its entirety and therefore the BBC has no claim on the title. Only titles which use the BBC logo (such as Top Gear Magazine) are published under licence.

Already out in my local Tesco:
The tall column of Radio Timeses has half a dozen of this week's edition on top, which put off the shopper before me.
Despite having read this thread before purchasing, I've managed to pick up a copy with a dodgy staple. Though they're always a bit bent after I've ceremonially removed the summer holiday supplement from the middle.

They aren't the double Christmas guides as far as I can see.
