I'm not really feeling the John Lewis ad this year - it's basically the same as last year, but with seven times the cringe.

.... and a different story, location, cast, singer etc etc.

It's in the same style as they've used for years but I don't see how it's similar to last years Xmas advert at all

Why let simple details like that get in the way of Brekkie having an opposite opinion to the mainstream... Wink

Maybe there will be some sort of retrospective around the start of the New Year, but not whole ceremonies.

I'd say it's almost certain the Olympic opening ceremony will be shown, an edited version has been shown since

Um.

Good grief. Who would even care what billionaire mental Trump wants, or convicted crook Martha Stewart? Yuck.

I wonder if anyone will ask "Chris Cringle" for a moral compass.

You really can't see the concept is pretty much identical.

EVERY John Lewis ad is the same - slow, piano-based cover of a popular, somewhat Magic FM-esque song, soundtracking a simple, simpering story told mainly by vignettes of action, linked together into one 90-second mini movie. The only thing that changes is the story itself.

I see were you're coming from. But each of these ads is a little masterpiece very christmassy and to change a high end winning concept which the brand has become associated with would be silly.

I know it's not TV but I was quite surprised to see the 1997 Coca-Cola trucks ad at the cinema today, while waiting for Skyfall to start! Looked rather blurry in comparison to the other ads but I guess it's been transferred from an SD source.

Surprised
Did it still have the "Always Coca-cola" tagline on the screen?

Boy waits for Christmas so he can (surprise!) give his parents a present.
Snowman goes into town and comes back with a present for a snowwoman.

Yep, identical Confused

The official YouTube channel has recently uploaded the trucks advert complete with the "Always Coca-Cola" ending rather than the re-edited one we see on TV. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kr7h8crYAYQ

This year's advert looks like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgH0QCdGFmU

Is this one around this year too or is it a mischevious YT user?
