I'm not really feeling the John Lewis ad this year - it's basically the same as last year, but with seven times the cringe.

.... and a different story, location, cast, singer etc etc.

It's in the same style as they've used for years but I don't see how it's similar to last years Xmas advert at all

I know it's not TV but I was quite surprised to see the 1997 Coca-Cola trucks ad at the cinema today, while waiting for Skyfall to start! Looked rather blurry in comparison to the other ads but I guess it's been transferred from an SD source.

As it would happen, someone I know also went to the cinema for Skyfall, and was talking only yesterday about seeing the very same.

Programme wise, I would expect both the BBC and C4 to take full advantage before their rights expire of Olympic and Paralympic highlights. Another full rerun on the ceremonies would seem an almost cert,

Really? It'd be the last thing I'd want to watch around Christmas. Anyway, they have the DVDs and Blu-rays.

Probably space somewhere over the christmas period, if not full reruns of ceremonies extensive reviews of the games and ceremonies. Although they may want to encourage people to get the DVD/BRs.

Free content, that expires in January/Febriary will be so tempting to use.

I could just about imagine it going out on BBC Red Button from 5am or something so that it was finished in time for the Top of the Pops red button stuff, but if they only judged content on it's cost then every channel would show It's a Wonderful Life, it's free and topical too.

I think they will resist the temptation.

I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a least an hour long programme on BBC1 somewhere over the Christmas period looking back at the Olympics.

Maybe there will be some sort of retrospective around the start of the New Year, but not whole ceremonies.
