To change the tone slightly, in 2001, an American singer called Melanie Thornton sampled the above "Holidays Are Coming" into a song called "Wonderful Dream" for the German Christmas Coca-Cola advert that year (she had found popularity in Germany having moved there in 1992).
Despite her death, Coca-Cola carried on with that year's advert as planned, and in fact that original advert has since been aired in Germany every year since 2001 around Christmas time, and the song has been in the German single charts every year since.
For me, the version of trucks that has played out the last 3 or 4 years has been ruined by the ending which is a damp squib compared to the original. Why it can't finish on "holidays are coming, holidays are coming" any more I do not know.

I so agree, I'm not so keen on the short version!!!
As for this year, I think John Lewis, Debenhams and the Morrisons adverts are the ones to beat. Better than some of the programmes...
I'm not really feeling the John Lewis ad this year - it's basically the same as last year, but with seven times the cringe. The Morrisons one isn't bad though.
That O2 one is a repeat of last year's one but it did prove very popular and once again the music used in it, 'Winter Song' by Sara Barellis and Inrid Michelson, is back in the Top ten iTunes chart in Ireland on the back of it.
It's getting to be almost as iconic as this piece from Guinness from 2005
Guinness have run that ad every year since. It'll be interesting to see if Guinness run it again this year. As far as I'm aware it's the last ever Guinness advert to be filmed in Ireland.
