'Episode One', yes... There is plot here (as thin as it is), but that's not the norm for Christmas promos; maybe that's why it seems a bit unusual to me?

In fact - I think this style is more akin to those old extended BBC 'adverts' that sought to justify the license fee, bigging up various programmes and talent - where a situation is established, then a raft of well-known faces show up in turns within it for a minute or two. That's very much what this reminds me of.

Those old trails were pretty great of course - but that style, in the context of actual Christmas pres? It's a bit of a bold leap from just a few years ago, I think.

Are there any hints yet as to when BBC One will launch its full Christmas presentation package?

Is there a clue in this One Show trailer?

Hmm, my guess would be Tuesday at 19:30, which is after that One Show and into EastEnders. But I could be way off the mark.

Don't Christmas idents usually debut on a Saturday night?

BSkyB's turn to produce the Queen's Christmas Message, so it seems it will be in 3D

Will BBC HD be carrying it in 3D, or will it only be available in 3D behind Sky's pay wall ?

So that's the second year in a row Sky will produce the speech... What happened to alternating between the BBC, ITN and now Sky?

A seem to remember a two year deal being signed with Sky for whatever reason so presumably it will go back to the BBC or ITN next year.

Tuesday night certainly is the first night of BBC One's christmas pres, and it will be launched by a very special One Show, which will be broadcast on big screens throughout the country.

Here's the Facebook event invitation with more details: http://www.facebook.com/events/491242717586927/

It seems to be a two part Christmas special (the first 2 of an 8 episode series), so I do wonder if it was originally intended to air in a one-hour slot.

I don't think so. As early as March this year Brendan and some of the cast were saying that there would be two Christmas specials this year.

The speech is now going to alternated between the three broadcasters on a two-yearly basis.
