In the last couple of years " normal " CBBC programming has hardly had a look in, in its usual slot. And I'm sure the Blue Peter Carol thing was at some obscure time like 1.45pm in the last couple of years..

When does the Christmas Radio Times come out? A must have every year. Smile

They had a preview of this years Christmas TV in the new issue of TV Times and it said the double issue will be on on 11/12/07. I assume the Radio Times will be out the same date.

True, I made up most of the CBBC slot trying to presume BBC One will take Christmas Eve as any other Monday.

Looks like for the first time in years ITV are planning something other than the bongs of Big Ben for New Year, with Take That live at the O2 "it's not the Millennium Dome, honestly" Arena to countdown to 2008.

Ah nothing beats the Jools Annual Hootenanny with drunken acts and Vic Reeves doing one of his legendary "in the club styles".

That sounds alright, as in previous years they tend to stick a Film on at 11.15pm and switch to ITV News at 11.55pm, it makes a nice change for once.

I take it STV / Border Scotland will still be doing their own thing?

It does make a fantasic change. Will it be presenter led or hosted by Take That? Do you think this is because of what they did with An Audience with Take That Live?

If you read the DS article, it tells you "Take That will host ITV1's countdown to 2008", and with the title being "Countdown to Midnight with Take That and Guests Live at the O2", I'm guessing Take That will present the show themselves.

I'm just hoping that it will be perfect, you don't want the bongs interupting them, or them being miles early or late for them.

I'm pleasantly surprised to see that ITV will be making an effort this year. Good for them.

I hope that they will make such an effort with Christmas. They seem to be doing something with the Christmas Choir thing. Hopefully there will be more too. And hopefully lovely Christmas presentation too.

Maybe they should even go down the route of creating one central Christmas ident/set and just have the different logos appear in them, and use them across the board, or maybe have a dark scene, but have the lights, etc coloured differently, it can surely be achieved easily, much more than creating 4 idents.

Though I just hope that they have some Christmas presentation of any sort. I did wonder why ITV2 didn't use a glittering logo over their snow ident, and maybe change the music, but surely that's Christmassy enough that fits in with the current branding.

There is absolutely no place for BBC1's usual daytime rubbish (To Buy Or Not To Buy) etc. on Christmas Eve.

Unfortunately I fear that with New Year's Day being a Tuesday this (next?) year, BBC1 may well repeat its "experiment" of normal daytime programmes in the morning.
