I don't think that it's properly Christmas until I see the Coca Cola 'holidays are coming ad' ad the Toys R Us ad.

I disagree myself, Toys R Us haven't had a large campaign for about a decade and I've never been a fan of the Coca Cola advert due to it using the americanised 'holidays'.

When the big UK shops start their campaigns, such as Boots, Argos, Woolworths and the supermarkets, and you find out what theme, music or celebs they are going with this year, you know the Christmas advert season has well and truly started

I agree followed by the traditional Hellman's 12 Days of Mayonnaise ad.

That is normally when I know know its Christmas, it used to only start airing on Christmas day in HTV Land.

Same goes with the Yellow Pages ad.

Sadly the Toys R Us advert hasn't been on for a few years now. Sad However, in some branches of Toys R Us they still play the 'Magical Place' theme tune over the music system every 15 minutes in the run up to Christmas! And of course the advert itself is available on YouTube.

Haven't heard if Coca-Cola are going to re-run the 'Holidays are Coming' advert again this year. I'll give them a ring at some point this week and find out.

Update: They don't know. And they don't know when theyre going to know, either.

I think those two commercials just feel so Christmassy and to me means that Christmas is just around the corner. But it is only the 'Holidays are Coming' version of the Coke ad that means Christmas to me, I don't like the one with the creepy Santa! Shocked

Are any of those ads actually left? The animated Toys R Us ad was last shown in 2000, Coca Cola dropped their trucks ad a few years back, and I don't think I saw the Hellmans or Yellow Pages ads last year either.

The only one that I saw was for Hellman's, but I don't think I saw it until Boxing Day.
I do like the little ads like the Hellman's one, that whilst putting across their product are really just wishing us a Merry Christmas, which I like rather than Christmas disapearing in the retail world around 4pm on Christmas Eve.

Normally round about Dec 5th... you need to keep looking for the Radio Times etc publishing two a week before that so you know it's getting close Very Happy

This year it should be (based on previous years)

Saturday 29th November - listings for 6th-12th December
Thursday 4th December - listings for 13th-19th December
Tuesday 9th December - double issue - listings for 20th December - 2nd January.

Sometimes the double issue comes out on the Saturday but I think thats only in London - certainly down here we dont get it until the Tuesday.

I think it'll more than likely be 'Christmas on the Coke side of life' again this year which is a shame because the trucks rule!

Talking of Coca Cola, I saw my first bottle of Christmas coke today. It featured a picture of Santa holding out a bottle of coke with a red bow on it.

Oh well... November 2nd and already holidays are coming! Laughing

November's quite late for a Coke Xmas bottle, they're usually October. Went into Esquires Coffee today and they were serving their Xmas (take out) Cups, so I presume it's only the same for Starbucks or at least pretty soon.
