Looks like quite a strong lineup! A shame The Royle Family is missing from that press release, although I guess if they do (eventually) get around to recording it in time the BBC will find somewhere to slot it into the schedule.

Looking forward to:

- Charlie Brooker's 2011 Wipe
- Top Of The Pops Christmas Special
- Winter Wipeout
- The One
- EastEnders
- Lost Christmas
- Top Gear Special
- The Royal Bodyguard
- Lapland
- Absolutely Fabulous
- Doctor Who Christmas Special
- The Borrowers
- Great Expectations

Sky+ will be on overdrive...

And confirmation as if it were needed that there is no Royle Family Christmas special.

Another great Christmas lineup for the BBC then. Looking forward to a new episode of Frozen Planet.

Ah yes, a Christmas edition of Mrs Brown’s Boys, and Top Gear! Very Happy

How long has it been since Charlie Brooker has done a Screenwipe episode? I suppose the last one would have been the 2010 Christmas special. That's depressing!

I think so, though he did that series for BBC2 which was basically a rehash of what he'd already done on Screenwipe.

more "winterval" rather than christmas

I presume you are using that term in parody otherwise you're going on my list of tvf cretins.

But that does indeed look rather nice.

I can absolutely assure you that I was using the term in parody!

So hopefully that keeps me off your list Smile

*spoiler alert* The following is a still glimpse of this year's BBC1 ident, as posted by @MattRosser on Twitter:

Interesting...

I look at this and don't have a clue how it'll work. Stopframe animation? Does it zoom out to a new scene? I just have no idea and I'm intrigued.

My initial thinking is that either this will be the start (as a nod to the past), and pan out to a wider scene, or you'll see this and zoom in where the characters in the scene are actually stars of BBC One.

I think it's a snow globe that magically comes to life.

Celebs are apparently involved...

Dr Who and Bruce Forsyth according to the extra on DS.
