Anyone know who's doing the Beebs NYE's countdown to 2012 coverage this year? I think Myleene Klass did it last year.

Jake Humphrey - as last year IIRC.

And what town or city is it coming from this year? Oh London. Again! Surely moving this programme around the country each year would be a cheap way to appease people accusing the BBC of having a London bias. Certainly cheaper than moving a load of programmes to Manchester.

Although this year it should definitely be from London - although a shame the Olympic organisers aren't really making a big thing of it.

Still baffles me though how C4 commission an Alan Carr New Years Eve special then schedule it to end at 11.35pm to make way for a Rude Tube repeat. C4 used to do a fairly good job in the nineties especially with their alternative New Year shows - they had the Countdown clock one year ticking down to midnight!

If I was going to go out and drink, it certainly wouldn't be on New Years Eve. There are 364 better days for that.

Name three.

Monday 18th April 2011
Saturday 23rd February 1991
Wednesday 28th June 2012.

and that's just off the top of my head. I could go on.

Due to it being a leap year, the 28th of June 2012 falls on a Thursday. Wink

They probably do - LOCOG have a habit of keeping these things hush-hush until the last minute.

What a good idea, they could get Nick Hewer to host a 10 minute programme by way of making people aware of the fact the series is getting a new host.

Sky Anytime have got in the Christmas Spirit, providing a video of a burning log fire, complete with every crackle on the audio.

Could this be the same burning log fire that I've seen on screens at Sky stands in shopping centres?

I think it is. Hopefully it has been created with screen burn in mind.... Embarassed

A bit like Birdsong radio.

How about other "window" TV channels? Like a beach scene, or mountains, or even a motorway?

Motorway has been done - Channel M used to show live motorway traffic camera shots accompanied by Real Radio's breakfast show.

...and Landscape did mountains and other stuff.

The last time I checked, they still do that.

Or instead of watching the TV you could, you know, go out like most people.

You mean watch a BBC Big screen somewhere? It's an interesting idea. What are they showing?
