Christmas Television 2011

Whilst a new BBC One ident would be lovely, it does make sense in the cost-cutting period to reuse the snowball, penguins and 2010 idents. Modify the the former two's logo form-ups and music due to the out-dated sparkles though!

Noticed a few Christmas themed ads this weekend, the big ones from M&S and Coca Cola are due soon I assume.

Ah, I'm very pleased to see that they are using the same song as last year - I think it's great!

There is rumours in the press that there will be NO Royal family Christmas special this year, ( I hope its true)

The rumour states that Caroline Aherne waits until late in the year to write each episode, but she wrote it too late and there wasn't enough time to finish it by December 25th.

A much more worthy successor to the trucks than the previous effort was!

I reckon The Café starting on Sky1 soon 'probably' had something to do with it.

Going back to Christmas Adverts for a moment, M&S launched theirs tonight during the X Factor featuring the X Factor finalists. I'm not sure if this is some sort of deal for them providing the competition prizes this series, but I'm not sure if it's been done previously. The song, a re working of 'When you wish upon a star' is stung by the contestants, and sounds very good in my opinion. I doubt it'll be this years charity single because of the link with the commercial, but I hope that there's some sort of release.

Meh, feels a bit poor man's John Lewis, although admittedly I know/care little about its participants.

Still, the Bond parody was the best they've done in recent years, I reckons. (240p warning)
