And if that trailer is an indication of the BBC idents this year it's fair to say they're the worst Christmas idents ever. If they were from ITV they would be deservedly slated.

But do you not think that's because of the calibre of a BBC celebrity over an ITV celebrity? The BBC's ident seems to focus around David Jason, Bruce Forsyth and the Outnumbered kids; ITV's would have something like Ant and Dec, some X-Factor person and Vernon Kay....

Perhaps I'm being snobby! Laughing

Even though the BBC's idea of 'celebrity' has a bit more class than ITV's would, I still look at that bunch (with the possible exception of Matt Smith and Karen Gillan) and think 'Is that really the best British TV has to offer?' I mean David Jason is a talented gentleman with a lot of good shows under his belt, but is there no one newer, no one fresh and exciting? Michael Macintyre and Bruce Forsyth?! Really?

The BBC One trailer is absolutely superb - it's unashamedly cheesy but that only adds to it for me.

It's nice to see they've put some thought into it rather than just - here's a logo covered in snow with clips of what's coming up. And anyone that's jesting around in a Christmas jumper is always going to please me.

One of the best bits of presentation I've seen on TV for a long while.

I have to admit, I don't want to like it but I actually do. I've never been much of a BBC person but they've done well this year.

I have just seen the BBC 1 christmas promo, and after watching it a few times, huge LOL! I needed to see it a few times to get the most out of it, Doctor who playing twister and people falling over. And the jumpers... well what can I say, either someone in the costume department was told the get the brightest christmas jumpers ever and/or the people taking part were told to look around in the house for jumpers like that.

ITV1 Christmas Eve
1900 Text Santa

Shocked

I was thinking more with the cube at 18:00, it would be 4 hours of schofe, unless he's also on with piers Morgan, and it's a schofe night. In ITV's schedule, I expect to see piers Morgan swapped with Jonathan Ross (Ross' would be more entertaining for Christmas Eve), and the cube swapped with family fortunes. I don't like the idea of 2 hours of soaps on Christmas Day. I am intrigued as to what text Santa will involve. There was a web & this morning promotion earlier in the year for people who deserve a Christmas surprise (Noel's christmas presents idea), but the things I've read indicate a charity event, unless they're merging the two somehow.

Out of the schedules, if they are even a basic idea, Channel 4's seems to be the most comedy filled. But will they be able to create a Christmas ident??

As for BBC One, I hate to admit it, but I love it.
I love the celebrities in random combinations, but it suits things very well, and everyone looks to be enjoying themselves. I do look at it and wonder what some of the stars are doing on BBC One this Christmas, but I'm sure that more will be revealed. I suppose if you're going to use the stars of the channel in a campaign, this is how to do it. If this is the idea behind the ident branding for Christmas, it'll be interesting to see how it materialises. Will it have silent clips of the celebrities say inside the house panning outside to logo form up, or will it not feature the celebrities at all?

Phillip is only hosting the first Text Santa show on the 11th. Ant & Dec will be presenting the Christmas Eve show.

Ah, sorry. From the website, i read that Phillip & Christine will be launching with a one hour show on 11th dec, with Ant & Dec co-hosting the Christmas Eve show. It does go on to say that they would be co-hosting with other hosts to be announced. I mis read it, and believed that Ant & Dec would be presenting with Phillip, Christine & others.

I agree. Nowhere near as star studded as this from 1993.
