They cancel good shows and ITV never even listen to their viewers.

Might surprise you to learn viewers don't actually come first in the TV stakes. Advertisers have dibs, the programmes just provide an audience for the adverts, as its that that makes the money. You sitting on your arse in front of Emmerdale doesn't in itself pay ITV's bills, what actually does you is sitting on the sofa watching adverts for B&Q, a carpet cleaner and whatever's on offer at Lidl this week and then going and buying them. This makes the campaigns successful so they spend more money at ITV who can spend it on more programmes to create an audience for more adverts.

That's also why you have to watch a few unskippable ads before the programmes on services like the ITV Hub.

(not much to see on C5 yet)

Well there hasn't been for 20 years! Very Happy

I think Victoria will be ITV's flagship Christmas Day drama.

I had the same thoughts about Victoria. Im sure it will be the 9pm drama on ITV on Christmas Day. its a perfect replacement for Downton Abbey. Im not sure if it will pull in a huge audience like Downton Abbey used to but I expect it will perform quite well.

Some of the TBAs have been filled in. ITV's 9pm drama on Christmas Day is indeed Victoria.

I see Emmerdale has been pushed back to 6pm which is often the case on Christmas Day even though in recent years it has been the far superior soap. I expect the schedules will be confirmed by the middle of next week as they will need the listings magazines to go to press and be on sale from the 9th onwards.

What are they supposed to do? It clashes with Strictly, and swapping it with Paul O'Grady won't change that, and though it would mean no longer clashing with Doctor Who, it'd end up overlapping Call The Midwife instead.

to be honest it doesn't bother me what time they show it on Christmas Day, I was just pointing out if often gets an earlier than usual slot on Christmas Day and sometimes on Boxing Day too.

Channel 5 has a considerably strong festive Saturday 23rd lineup with the airing of Elf the Musical (presumably the broadway version), followed the blind date Christmas special and a Jane McDonald; with no major competition on the other channels it could do well.

EFL bumped for two hours of Jane McDonald. Doesn't look promising.

And into a clash against Match of the Day. It may change, not finalised until next week.

5 putting The Lego Movie on NYE is good scheduling, I could see it doing over 2m given how weak the competition is.

TOTP is on early on Christmas Day. No more “And next - the Queen” signoff.
