I remember the BBC did sign an exclusive deal to get a package of films from Fox and Columbia Tristar with Channel 5; these included Men In Black and Speed which flip-flop between the channels. Then 5 did a Columbia deal on their own, and then did a joint deal with Channel 4. The BBC haen't signed ANY major movie deals lately that could be to do with a change in policy, plus the fact that the moved to an unencrypted satellite.

I wonder if ITV1 will go down the same route they did last Christmas with showing a Christmas edition of Midsomer Murders. I've not heard anything, but I hope they show a blockbuster movie in the evening slot this Christmas after Corrie.
I for one am looking forward too the early rough schedules from the tabloids which should be released in 3 weeks from now

rough being the word, Infact I'll knock one up now.
Here's ITV1 for Christmas Eve...
6.00 London Tonight
6.15 ITV News
6.30 You've Been Framed
Which ends up being shown on the 29th December
7.00 Emmerdale
After a tramatic year the residents of Emmerdale will be hoping for a quiet Christmas
7.30 Coronation Street
The latest events down Britain's favourite street
8.00 TBA
10.30 ITV News
11.00 TBA
5.30 ITV Early Morning News
Which is blatently wrong
I remember last year we had a right time ripping the schedules apart, for example EastEnders had been scheduled opposite Corrie. Of course by the time the RT came out, it was nothing of the sort!

Thanks for clearing that up. I knew a deal had been signed in the past but I am now clearer on the matter. They have bought the the exclusive rights to Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit though.

Have you noticed Wicko that films just don't seem to do the business at Christmas anymore unless thy're British?

Cylon, yes, I think you're right. There was a time when big blockbuster movie announcements had the reaction of Wow!! and Yippee! Now though it's a case of "seen it" or "Not again". However, in 2002 when Chicken Run premiered on Christmas Day it received a lot of interest and yes...it was British!

Will that actually be shown? I only ask because the BBC said they would speak to Ronnie Barker's family first. Speaking of great comedy double acts, does anybody know if there will be a Morecambe & Wise Christmas Show repeat on BBC1 this year? I missed the 1976 one, which went out on Boxing Day last year at nine in the morning, and I was gutted!!
As far As I Know, Ronnie Barker himself made his wishes known that if anything happened to him to still show the xmas special. I suspect it will, because it will have been a good 3 months passed by then, plus it will be like a tribute to his brilliant performance and writing skills
