Again we're seeing the impact of:
1) iPlayer - I'll be watching Gavin & Stacey, Dr Who and Royle Family over the course of the next few days in my own time, rather than interrupting the regular flow of Xmas Day to a schedule determined by the BBC.
2) PVRs such as V+, Sky+ and Freeview+ - my father PVR'd most of his Xmas viewing.
3) Repeats on digital channels / repeats on later days
4) Apathy
Oh - by the way TVForum Team - if I want to type XMAS, I'll type XMAS, without your software automatically changing it to Christmas. I can understand automatically changing ei to ie or should have to should have, but that's a little much, don't you think?

The viewing figures for people watching BBC programmes on BBC HD are not combined with those watching on the standard definition channel, which, if you then do this yourself, gives some programmes a bit of a bump. Doctor Who, for example, was watched by approximately 350,000 more people on BBC HD, The Royle Family approximately 100,000 more people.
PVR's, DVD and VCR (heh) recordings will count towards the final consolidated figures, so will go up a bit more (the BBC HD figures will also go up because of this).
