Shocked That really is a shock i had a feeling it would be the most watched tv show of the day but not by such a big total,Didn't it only get like 10 million viewers last year?

Infact i thought Harry hill would of dented EastEnders ratings with Corrie pipping EastEnders to the top spot not being out of the top 5 on the biggest tv of them all.

Any idea what the all day channel shares were?

I'm in shock... but in a good way. These are the kind of viewing figures we haven't seen in recent years.

And while BBC1 has nearly always won Christmas Day on all day share the margin this year must be astounding.

Brilliant figures all round, well done BBC and ITV.

Interesting that ITV1's "HM The Queen" broadcast isn't mentioned, yet the BBC got six million viewers. An identical broadcast shown at the exact same time.... strange that people automatically opt for the Beeb rather than Sky News or ITV1.

Thoroughly deserved colossal ratings for EastEnders, it was spectacular last night.

Judging by the ratings it was probably more to do with the 7.1 million tuning in to watch Finding nemo.

This may be slightly OT, but I thought ITN were producing The Queen this year? Didn't the BBC do it last year?

I think the BBC do two years then ITN does one.

The BBC trounced ITV. Even Corrie performed badly, although that's fully deserved because it's awful at the moment. ITV are too reliant on soaps at Xmas and because the soaps on ITV have been dreadful this year, the whole ITV schedule suffers.

Pretty much a given, every year. The most absurd one is probably the News at 6 o'clock being the 11th highest watched programme of the year.
