BBC2's Christmas idents remind me of the Thursday's Are Funny stings in all but the colour scheme. Very nice effort from Two and whilst I would have preferred to see the 2 as an actual object they have turned out a decent ident incorporating the Window theme.
I'm going to be really boring and say I preferred last year's ident though
Whilst there is no denying that this years effort from BBC2 for their Christmas ident is original, in what way does it reflect the theme of 'window on the world' for the current set of BBC2 idents?
It rather reminds me of the smirnoff adverts of old with the jack frost puppet character.
In any case it is a poor show from BBC2 who could have got away with an inoffensive snowy landscape, whilst it may have been percieved as boring at least it would have remained in theme.
I like the idea and execution of the BBC Two idents, when I was thinking window of the world for Christmas, I was thinking more along the lines of the 2001 BBC One idents with the various toys, except having it in a similar vein to this years BBC Two coming through the '2', but having the '2' as a window in a Christmas lounge.
ITV1 just showed a promo for whats on next saturday. They used a serif font (not the ITV one) with a black/brown background and yellow stars and baubles around the screen, looked really good.

I'm hoping that they're doing something as an ident this year, but it shows that they've put a bit more effort in.
In the UTV thread, they have caps of the UTV Christmas pres with a swirly tree. I was wondering whether this was part of the ITV Christmas package, in the same way that they used the snowflakes in 2003 and the characters in 2004.

I'd say that it's a window on an animated Chrristmas world, that is keeping the theme of the new idents unlike the special ones for Thursdays Are Funny or Electric Proms.
