Saw both just earlier - but only taped BBC2's here. I agree it does have a somewhat more 'classic' feel than most of the regulars, and that's great; nice music too.

In particular I've noticed that on 2's ident, the 2 is in the dead centre of the screen, instead of on the right as in the trailers and the usual idents. I myself don't like this - I think it makes it look horribly unbalanced, even without the box.

Yes I noticed it's dead centre and it looks like they have at least 2 variations of it. The one I caught the end of at 6.10pm was definitely different to the 7pm one.

Not so on NI - They've ditched the box... and centered 'Northern Ireland' below the '2' on their symbol!

Ive just noticed some Christmas promotions on ITV1.
All featuring the Christmas fairy and some sparkles around the ITV1 logo. Also they all seem to have dedicated large graphics and Christmassy style graphics on the end board featuring holly, stars and parcels. Almost a nod back to some late 80's and 90's type branding.

Looks good...would it work with the regular idents though?
I think the nations are perhaps a little narked the nation name is so small on the new BBC2 box (even smaller than the "Subtitles" text) so perhaps Belfast are making a statement....(!)
