Think the classic example was my parents a week or two ago watching ITV News and thinking it was Newsnight....

That does look quite nice. ITV need to make a Christmas ident though

Glad the BBC One announcer didn't talk over the end credits of Santa Claus today Smile Although it was introduced as a comedy film, which it isn't Confused

So I take it nothing on ITV then.

C4 being scrooges as well - the rocks one into the Snowman - which actually if the rocks were turned into blocks of snow and the sea into ice, would be a rather effective ident.

They couldn't keep quiet over the credits either!

ITV are certainly the Scrooge again this year it would seem. However it's odd they pay for some festive pres elements on trailers and breakbumpers yet don't use these in an ident.

Oh well crap programmes, crap on air presentation we shouldn't really be surprised I suppose - the BBC certainly put them to shame with regards to presentation both idents and announcing teams.

Yeah, amazing they've bothered with a decent idea and design on the trails and breakbumpers but not an ident - there was so much scope for something decent. They obviously just can't bear to depart from their boring meaningless idents for a couple of days, can they?

They don't have to have Christmas idents, they don't have to do anything. We should just be grateful for ITV for such programmes as Corrie, Harry Hill, Sunday Dramas.

But like others have said, why only go half way (promos/breakbumper) and not the full way.

Nor can they depart from the dull 'same old' music that accompanies them Laughing

Not much better are STV, who have come up with an 'S' on a sled as a breakbumper and... that's about it really.

Well done to UTV for some really good creativity - especially with the Santa appearing on screen every so often.

I'm also loving the BBC penguins, I have to admit.

All they had to do was use an extended, looping break bumper as the ident and that would have done most of us here. But as I may have suggested earlier on in this thread, ITV1's marketing department does not like anything to interfere with its day-to-day identity including it would seem Christmas. Unless of course they've a new series of Celebrity Love Island in which case it's OK for the normal ITV1 idents to be stood down in favour of special promotional ones for the series' entire run Evil or Very Mad

This year there is not even so much as festive sparkles on the Now and Next caption, when last year it had a glowing "1" in the ITV1 logo. At least now we know - Ebenezer Scrooge is alive and well in Kent House (and Horseferry Road for that matter).

Have any of you even stopped to think that there might not be enough money in the budget for Christmas idents? Rolling Eyes

There's been the new website, the phone-in scandal, the new ident set that you've all been whinging about, and Christmas bonuses for all the employees to attend to.

Quit your bitching. It's Christmas!

Lighten up.

ITV1 used to show special idents for everything, I don't think there has been one at all for anything since the current logo was introduced, so your silly comment about Celebrity Love Island being seen as more important than Christmas is not valid (CLI aired 2 and a half years ago by the way get over it)

There has obviously been a change in policy by those in charge that stuff will now be advertised on the breakbumper rather than the ident
