When will the Christmas Puddings Puncture? (December 2004)

Surely this will be the year Lorraine Heggessey finally moves on from BBC1? That would be a greater achievement. As for changing BBC1's identity, I hate the dancers as much as anyone but I maintain that a brand needs to be around for a while in order to bed into public consciousness. Channels who change their look every couple of years don't stand a chance of being "spotted"!

To that end, I admire BBC1 for sticking with their look when ITV has had two relaunches since 2002.

The BBC Christmas idents will be removed tomorrow I think. Hopefully, that will be the last we see of those Christmas 2s.

The BBC ONE Christmas idents will finish on Monday 3rd January and normal service will resume from Tuesday 4th January. The new "Tumbler" ident will air on from that evening onwards.

Does this mean we'll hear Christmas music on Ceefax until then?

Great as this is, I only wish they'd used Christmas idents this long in the 70s and 80s.

A good time to finish the idents would be straight after Breakfast (9.00) on Monday 3rd January 2005. I think Tumbler will either appear at 16.25 on Sunday 2nd January 2005 (the christmas idents would therefore have to have finished) ahead of the preview of Big Cat Week or on Monday 3rd January 2005 at 19.00 also just before Big Cat Week

Well Monday 3rd is the Bank Holiday with today being a Saturday so BBC One going "back to work" on Tuesday seems fairly appropriate
