Does anyone know when BBC Breakfast's tree will be going up as last month Sophie said that the tree had been ordered after pestering by the presenters.
Do any of the other BBC News programmes get dressed for christmas? - I doubt the National news will what about the regions? - I don't remember North West Tonight having a tree last year. - or to that matter ever!
Oh, and Granada - putting an effort into an ident for christmas, they don't even bother for the normal junctions we get normal and the odd VERY infrequent lines!!
Chances are that Granada, Yorkshire, Border and TTTV will
NOT have any Chrissy idents. They were the only companies
not to have them last year. Blimey, even minority channels on
satellite make an effort. Maybe that as all continuity for these
channels are done in Leeds, it would be ' too technical ' to have
seperate regional idents with a bit of snow or a fairy popping up.
Whoever is ' Head of Presentation ' at GMG must really be a
Scrooge. Humbug to him ( or her ). Get into the Chrissy spirit!!!

But surely they could run a generic festive ITV1 logo, such as:
For the last two years Carlton stations have used the same xmas versions of the traditional Carlton idents - will this year be any different? who knows!
Last year HTV adapted the previous years xmas idents (the ones with the 2-d fairy flying about) and superimposed a physco robin on the standard idents that is used all year and added some jingles to the normal music that accompanies it!
Let hope Carlton stations push the boat out and incorporate this years ITV1 eskimo character into the local idents!
Heres hoping...........

During 1999 they had Xmas ldents from Leeds.
All three were in the same style, which was based on the YTV local ident, and they were very good!
There were 2 versions too, Blue background and multicoloured background.
Well last year Channel Television had the normal snow falling with the Channel ident in the back ground with lots of announcments: Merry Christmas from everyone at Channel Television................nice.
I have just noticed that the end board after Channel Report has changed it may have changed Monday but I am in Kent visiting Mum and Dad. It's quite cool watching Channel sat in Tunbridge Wells. The end board is the normal Channel ident but with the ITV spinning hearts in the background previously it was the sea !.
Heh, yeah. Tyne Tees had a nice Nicam logo on their static ident before stereo programmes, and YTV had the very grand 'MADE IN STEREO' caption!

I love how it is advertising the fact that the programme is in STEREO. Ah how times have changed.
Yeah, I always liked the font on BBC 1 & 2 with the Stereo & 888 captions between 1991-1997!

****CHRISTMAS PREVIEW****
BBC ONE sneaked in a ten-minute promo at 21.50 tonight, just after Tamzin Goes Wild with Dolphins. A VERY bright ident this year featuring a toy dog and party balloons; quite original imo!!
Last year UTV had a hanger with lots of little Christmas trees on it. All completely computer generated, of course. It was unvieled on Monday 11th Dec at 7pm. The trailers were used from the 9th (complete with new logo). On 31st Dec, the Christmas trees changed to '2001's and the jingle changed to Auld Lange Syne running into the UTV jingle. (This version continued to be played out at 9.25am into March - surely a record for a Christmas ident).
