Excellent! Second question Dan; given the new linking policy for national and local news, what's the probability of local BBC1 idents being used?

Unlikely I think ... although some of the English regions may decide to slip one in somewhere Smile

I have read an explanation from the BBC regarding re-using last years ident and apparrently they decided it would be better to spend more money on programmes than an ident. However I have contacted them myself and spoke to someone about idents and was told we can expect something fabulous next year as they were planning to show such gems as Harry Potter, Bend It Like Beckham, Chicago, Moulin rouge and other movies that sounded good too. So it would seem that the children idents may be put to rest when News 24 is introduced on New Years night. Remember, you read it here first! Happy New Year everyone!

Well STV have a festive ident . It is the same as the mock of the ITV 1 ident here on this thread with the snow flakes on the blue background (Or is it a mock ?.) It has Scottish TV on the ident obviously .Looks realy nice well done to SMG take it all back about you being meangie .

Yes, I 've just seen that Ident actually, better late than never I guess.

Yes it is better than nothing but they have hardly pushed the boat out!!

They have only ripped off the itv1 snowflake ident - it would have been nice to have the odd Grampian Celeb one as well. Ahh but no we get the bland boring North Tonight presenters on the stupid set on Christmas Day!!
They could have done much much better!!

There was an Ant and Dec Christmas ident which went out at 12.05am, so really no, but there's 2.10am if you want to check next time. Though I assume the last showing of the christmas ident will obviously be at 6.00am, then back to normal at 9.25am or whenever normal ITV1 programmes resume after GMTV.

BBC One Scotland joined BBC News 24 at 0214. Interestingly they showed Capoeria ident followed by the old BBC News 24 sting! Have they forgotten to update the handover material? I am sure the other evening they used the new BBC News 24 graphics.

Another point - have any countdowns been used to crossover from BBC One to BBC News 24 since the relaunch? If so have they used the new look one?

Don't really understand why ITV1 have stopped their festive idents today - I'd have thought Christmas Eve - New Years Day would be the logical period.

Also, don't ITV1 trailers and idents look so old-fashioned now following the way the snowflakes had animated onto screen - now the boxes just slide as they used to.

It's kinda sad really. I don't understand the logic of ending them today. Perhaps if they had a new years ident, or fireworks over and around the logo on the celeb ones, I could understand, like Carlton did 2000-2002.

They do look horrible really, because they are dull and boring compared to the glittering snowflakes. Perhaps if the squares sparkled.

What they should have done is created a new year generic, and fireworks for the squares, and optics. And used these until Sunday. Then on monday, either reuse the sept2003 promo, or create a new one with a new song and new clips. And then perhaps change the sqaures to make them shiny & glitzy, like the blue squares, how the light reflects on them. Though if the blue squares had as much movement as the snowflakes had then that would be a miracle!

It's the same when you take the Christmas decorations though don't you think ? I've just taken down the cards, the tree and various bits of tinsel, and the room looks very dull & bare. But it's normality, we are now officially leaving this bubble of Christmas / New Year and it's all back to normal.

Anyway, I think ITV1 won presentation wise this Christmas, which in itself is unusual.

Oh yeah. That to do on twelth night. Never before. I don't like it how loads of people dont celebrate until twelth night.

They could have at least left them up today. The programmes on today were all festive period programmes. Films, an hour emmerdale special, world idol, coronation street on a thursday, and a fat friends christmas 90 minute special. And today is a bank holiday. I wouldn't have minded if they had have had new year presentation like fireworks instead of snowflakes.
