Christmas Ident Questions

I know it's nearly August but as it is a lazy afternoon for me, I couldn't help but browse through some good ol' Christmas idents from the BBC, but I'm only talking about from 1991 onwards really.

I was wondering if anybody knew when exactly the idents debuted? I've read on TV and Radio Bits that it was Christmas Eve up until 2000, so when did it change, and what days did they premiere on? Also, did the idents only hang around for 3 days (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day)? If not, when did that also change, and for how many days did they last?

From what I remember it started with the last balloon Christmas Ident in 2001. I think it still debuted on Xmas eve but ran up until New Years day.

When the dancers were introduced it just continued from there. However I think last Xmas was the longest they've ran Xmas idents from around the 13th of December until the 3rd of Jan.

It was actually from 18th December last year.
2003, it was the 20th December.
2002, it was the 21st December.
2000 -2001, it was also the 21st December.
