For the 9,437,825th time, there is definitely going to be a new BBC1 ident this year. Same goes for BBC2.
I know that, I meant a reuse in addition to the new ones. I apologise if I didn't state this clearly enough.
I'd welcome the re-use of the idents. Adds a bit of variety.

I could see, despite the controversey last year, a reuse of Bouncy Puddings and also Snowflake on BBC One.

I doubt very much that the previous two BBC1 Christmas idents will be used on top of this year's. I can see it as a slight possibility, being as though BBC2 has been doing that for the past 4 years, but I just can't see BBC1 doing it at all.

OK, I'm being lazy tonight and I've only read the last 2 pages of the thread so far, but I did notice that BBC1 is re-using it's Xmas trailer style from last year. This is disapointing. It's not the best of the Xmas trailer styles they've used since the 'dancers' came in, I much prefered that 3D snowflake graphic or whatever it was from 2003 (if I remember correctly).

Yes it seems the 'red blind' doesn't have much expandibility when it comes to Christmas. Either that, or the BBC being bloody lazy again.
Gone are the special Christmas trailer bumpers (i.e. the post box and street from 2002 and the Santa Claus in 2000) in favour of just general montage preview.

I've seen clips of the new BBC1 Christmas ident a few weeks ago. There is pretty much little red in it whatsoever. Completely whitewashed background, a giant green cone in the middle (I giant Christmas tree i suppose) and a lot of little children marching up the sides of the 'tree' holding baubles (they might be red as far as I remember).
The music is kids singing ooh and ahh with lavish orchestra, harps and sleigh bells, cant make my mind up if the melody is festive or more suitable for Hallowe'en though!

Yes indeed... Judderman meets Willy Wonka and the Umpalumpas. Festive, yet sinister.

Pretty much as revealed by me in this thread on 28Nov...
As I predicted, the big spheres are going to be red baubles on a giant Christmas tree.

Will they be having special stings as well? I liked the snowflake kid stings but the pudding kid stings were not as good.

With reference to when the ident will launch.......sheer speculation only, but in the Radio Times on Thursday December 22 a programme entitled It's Christmas With Jonathan Ross which begins at 8pm has similar vibe to "Pop Goes Christmas" which launched BBC1's Christmas Ident on 21st December 2001. I have a feeling that it will launch then. Following this programme is the movie "Bend It Like Beckham" so my money is on Thursday December 22nd being the Christmas Ident launch date this year!!!!
