Sounds interesting about Harry Potter. Hopefully ITV1 will do something different again this year, though last years was lovely!
Other Christmas news, the Disney Channel have launched their Christmas Presentation today with a whole day of Christmas Programmes.
Most of it revolves around the Mickey Mouse shaped wreath (sp?), with the now... programme title, etc.
Though there is a proper ident, and this year it's simply father Christmas, instead of basing something on a film premiere, although by the looks of today, most of the films are going already. The fact that Santa Claus(e) 2 was on Sky Movies was strange.

Back to Christmas idents now, I've looked on the latest presentation news on The TV Room, and it says that the Christmas Puddings will probably return this year. Has Mike been on TV Forum recently. We know for a fact that there is going to be a new one.

Agreed - I hate the whole 'kids' theme, and I'd love it if they ditched all this live action stuff in favour of a singular logo or symbol.
If BBC TWO did something as simple as taking the existing idents and giving them each their own colour scheme it would freshen it up. The idents as they are are still far better than some other channels' looks, but using just 2 colours consistently is too samey.
Back in 1991 the channel established viridian as the signature colour clearly, but applied it in different ways - it wasn't always used as the background colour, it varied in shade, different textures were used etc. If that thinking was applied to festive idents (if not the current yellow-dominant set) it would be a lot better, but it's a pity the Xmas offerings we've had up to this point haven't really broken away from the standard look; we can hope. Maybe something will be done with the new fluffy 2.

somebody in another thread on another forum (that I assume works for the BBC), that BBC1's new ident will feature kids and spheres!
I hate these live action things I want something computer generated or CGI enhanced. I know BBC1 may well be getting a new ident but is BBC2 going to change the way their logo is displayed?

That's right, when you look at the original 9 '2's that debuted in February 1991 the bluish/green tint was there in all of them. However they stood out because they were in different environments. The 2 really became a character with the 2's that they used to show before trailers that started in Autumn 1993 (something which the '1' logo did as well). What's missing from teh 2 is that variety and ironically these new 2's have aged quicker than the ones they replaced.

I see BBC Three have launched their Christmas promos. Rather nice - shame about the programmes.

Cyan
Viridian was the main colour. But some of the lighter backgrounds were more Cyan (I'm thinking of Shadow, in particular).
Yeah I think I saw a Christmassy BBC THREE trailer last night, capped it with a bit of luck...what's going on with BBC FOUR? Do they even have an Xmas ident lined up?

Surely we are to expect a new ident this year for BBC Two considering they reused all of them last year.
If the BBC launches them on Saturday 17th December then I could see, despite the controversey last year, a reuse of Bouncy Puddings and also Snowflake on BBC One. I'd personally launch the idents at 19.00 on Friday 23rd December then stop them on Tueday 3rd January. If not it will just be too long and we will be bored before Christmas.

For the 9,437,825th time, there is definitely going to be a new BBC1 ident this year. Same goes for BBC2.

I know that, I meant a reuse in addition to the new ones. I apologise if I didn't state this clearly enough.
